The original LEGO Marvel Super Heroes has been rated by the ESRB for Nintendo Switch, indicating that it will soon be released on the platform. The original title was released all the way back in 2013, during the era of the Wii U. That age was a bad time for Nintendo, the Wii U underperformed to a shocking degree, as illuminated by a recent infographic. Fortunately, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes released on several other consoles as well, and was able to obtain the quiet success common to most LEGO video games.
And LEGO has had many. While the company is certainly best known for its iconic building toys, LEGO also has a proud tradition of releasing video games to tie in with major pop culture franchises that it has the toy rights for. One of the most well-known examples of this is the LEGO Star Wars franchise. The legendary film franchise has carried LEGO through some exemplary video game titles, culminating in the hotly anticipated Skywalker Saga. This game will package together all nine main series Star Wars films. Given how long it's been since the last LEGO Star Wars game, fans are thrilled at the prospect of getting a new next-gen title with a fresh coat of paint, not to mention updated graphics and combat.
As exciting as this new game is, it looks like LEGO fans will also be getting a chance to relive the past. The listing.
The 2013 LEGO game is a surprising choice for resurrection on the Switch. Nintendo has been doing a lot of revival lately, porting in solid games that didn't get a good chance to shine thanks to the poor sales of the Wii U. as well as it did on the Wii U. Nintendo has usually been focusing on first-party titles like Pikmin and Mario Kart; a third-party game like LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, which released on Sony and Microsoft devices alongside the Wii U, is a more unconventional choice.
It's unclear when fans will learn more about this surprise port. One wonders if the game is set to be the first of many older LEGO titles slated for rerelease on the newer console. Goodness knows there are a lot to choose from. Until fans learn more, they can anticipate saving the world all over again in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes on Nintendo Switch sometime in the future.
