Summary

  • LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game's Minikit is now available in real life 19 years after its game debut.
  • 2024’s LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar marks 25 years of partnership with festive minifigures and mini-builds of iconic ships.
  • Exciting new additions in the Advent calendar include Ahsoka Tano and buildable Super Battle Droid.

The Minikit from the LEGO Star Wars video games has finally been released in real life. The Minikit first appeared 19 years ago in 2005's LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game as a collectible item and became a mainstay in the series' future titles. There were 10 hidden Minikits in each level - and 60 per Episode - that could form a miniature LEGO recreation of an iconic Star Wars ship once players had acquired them all, with LEGO Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars using them as a way to unlock extra playable characters as well.

Players can use studs to purchase a "Minikit Detector" Red Brick to help them find the remaining collectibles upon Free-roam playthroughs.

While it's relatively simple to recreate a Minikit using only a few pieces of LEGO, and many LEGO Star Wars fans have undoubtedly done so over the years, the newly revealed LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar does feature an official version. Over the past few years, LEGO has released several branded Advent calendars from the Star Wars, Marvel, and Harry Potter IPs, as well as its own LEGO City and LEGO Friends collections, each with an array of miniature builds and exclusive minifigures, and this year will see the arrival of a further Disney Princess calendar as well.

What's Included In The LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar?

Festive Minifigures And 18 Mini Builds

The LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar in particular is a special one this year as it celebrates 25 years of LEGO's partnership with the IP. Alongside the aforementioned LEGO Star Wars video games' Minikit, there are 17 further mini-builds in the Advent calendar taken from different eras of the franchise. These include fan-favorite ships such as X-Wings, TIE Fighters, and AT-ATs, as well as a Mandalorian Gauntlet, Darth Vader's Castle, and The Crimson Firehawk.

There are also 5 collectible minifigures, with Luke Skywalker sporting a festive sweater that matches his green lightsaber, and Princess Leia wearing a blue sweater depicting the Battle of Hoth. Alongside these are less festive figures, but ones that should please the Star Wars fandom nonetheless, such as Ahsoka Tano, complete with her dual white lightsabers, which first appeared in Star Wars Rebels, and an additional, buildable Super Battle Droid.

It's always great to see LEGO represent the gaming side of Star Wars rather than just the movies and TV shows. Just earlier this week, two of the most beloved characters from the recent Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor games, Cal Kestis and BD-1 were shown in a video celebrating LEGO Star Wars' 25th Anniversary, sparking hopes that there may be some new sets released based on these titles soon.
