best X-Men '97 characters in minifigure form.

The set will release to the public on November 4, with an earlier release of November 1 for LEGO Insiders. Other X-Men sets - including the LEGO X-Men Wolverine's Chopper Showdown, which keeps gaining value for collectors lucky enough to own it, have been somewhat limited in availability. But the success of X-Men '97 and the MCU X-Men movie is driving up interest in the characters, and LEGO fans can now take advantage.

LEGO's Marvel X-Men: The X-Mansion Set Breakdown & Gambit Hidden Detail Explained

LEGO XMansion Set Gambit Easter Egg

The LEGO X-Mansion set is by far the biggest X-Men set released to date at 3,093 pieces, and while it is some way off the biggest Marvel LEGO set (that award goes to the huge Avengers Tower set), it's exactly the kind of scale that X-Men '97 deserves. The set also includes a number of firsts for LEGO: it's obviously the debut of The Xavier Institute for Higher Learning in brick form, but there are also first-time minifigure versions of four of X-Men '97's cast: Professor X, Iceman, Bishop, and 2024's MVP Gambit. There's also a new variant of Jean Grey, who previously debuted in her Phoenix form.

The best detail revealed in the images of the new LEGO X-Mansion set also show off a subtle further celebration of Gambit. In the Danger Room, a sign on the wall read UX 266. Those in the know will already be aware that that celebrates Gambit's full debut in Marvel Comics, in The Uncanny X-Men #266 (June 19,1990). It's that sort of excellent little detail that keeps LEGO fans coming back.

LEGO's official breakdown of the X-Mansion set reveals some of the details fans can expect to enjoy as they build:

The LEGO Marvel X-Men: The X-Mansion Buildable Set includes a buildable Sentinel and 10 familiar minifigures – five of which will be showcased for the first time ever in a LEGO set! The new LEGO minifigures include Professor X, a new variation of Jean Grey, Gambit, Iceman and Bishop. With its realistic accessories, the set also features elements from the X-Mansion including Cerebro, switchable Danger Room items, an exploding cupola (dome-like structure), motorcycle for Wolverine, as well as graphical nods to the iconic X-Men franchise.

Our Take On LEGO's New X-Mansion

LEGO XMansion Professor X

This is a big moment for X-Men and LEGO fans, not only because of the debut of so many new minifigures: the X-Mansion itself looks incredible and offers an opportunity for X-Men '97 fans to add to their collection. The Sentinel is a great touch that makes this more than just a display set - despite it being part of the Adult collection - and there are more than enough hidden details and smart touches that make it a must-have.

The LEGO Marvel X-Men: The X-Mansion Buildable Set is available for LEGO Insiders from 1st November 2024 here and in LEGO Stores for all from 4th November priced at $329.99/£309.99/€329.99. Between November 1-7, all purchases of the LEGO Marvel X-Men: The X-Mansion set will come with a LEGO Marvel Cerebro as a bonus gift.
