The new Square Enix Presents showcase, but that didn't stop its title and release date from getting leaked ahead of schedule. The third mainline entry in the series, Life is Strange: True Colors, leaked online today courtesy of an early Game Informer listing.
The Life is Strange games have made a name for themselves as some of the most appealing titles in Square Enix's line-up. The games have tackled social issues from racism, political tensions in America, and more, all dressed up with a super-powered backdrop to give it more oomph. The series has been such a success that the Life is Strange developers have six projects in the works. Now, with a third game on the way, it's expected to take on all-new issues with hard hitting social commentary and some new powers.
Life is Strange: True Colors leaked thanks to an early Game Informer listing (via Life is Strange will be developed by Deck Nine who previously made the spin-off title.
Life is Strange is also getting remastered as part of a larger celebration of the franchise. The remaster will include the first game as well as its spin-off, Before the Storm, which serves as a prequel. Both remastered titles will benefit from enhanced graphics, animations, and some refined gameplay elements. The remaster will be a standalone purchase but will also be included in the Ultimate Edition of Life is Strange: True Colors.
Life is Strange: True Colors is expected to be the largest scale game in the series to date. Despite coming from a much smaller budget, this entry promises licensed music from Radiohead, motion-captured performances, and more. With the remasters and an all-new game releasing around the same time, it's clear 2021 will be a great time to be a fan of the series, but also welcome new ones who want to see what all the fuss is about. Hopefully, the larger ambition for Life is Strange: True Colors will pay off and the series continue to grow and expand.
Life is Strange: True Colors will be available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia on September 10, 2021.
