The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 is renewed at Netflix, with story details and confirmation on which characters are returning. Representing something of a resurgence for the courtroom drama genre, at least in the streaming realm, Suits and The Lincoln Lawyer have been dominant on Netflix over the past few months, with the latter having a prominent spot on the streaming charts since its premiere this past July.

Following a twisty ending to its second installment, it's now been announced that The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 is happening. TVLine adds that the show's third outing will be based on the fifth book in Michael Connelly’s The Lincoln Lawyer series titled The Gods of Guilt. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo will, of course, return in the lead role of Mickey Haller. It's also noted that Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, and Angus Sampson will be back in their respective roles as Lorna, Izzy, and Cisco. Breakout actor Yaya DaCosta will also be returning as prosecutor Andrea Freemann.

What To Know About The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3

Mickey Haller in court in The Lincoln Lawyer season 2

Gods of Guilt starts with Mickey getting a text, which includes the California penal code for murder, 187. Given that those can result in a big payday, Mickey is eager to answer. He soon learns that the victim was his former client, a sex worker "he had rescued and put on the straight and narrow path," according to the book's description.

Mickey later finds out that he put the woman in danger rather than saving her. This leaves Haller haunted by the ghosts of his past, pushing himself to work tirelessly on a case that could bring redemption or proof of his ultimate guilt. The characters in the story include Andre La Cosse, a digital pimp who allegedly murdered Gloria Dayton, a story established in The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 ending.

Near the conclusion of the finale, Mickey discovers that he's been tasked with defending the person accused of murdering a sex worker named Giselle Dallinger, whom Mickey knew well. That story could make for a darker third outing for the hit Netflix show, which faithfully adapts the Lincoln Lawyer source material.
