Now, the reboot has cast its first star. As announced by Netflix Tudum on X, formerly Twitter, Alice Halsey has officially been cast as Laura Ingalls in their Little House on the Prairie adaptation. See the original post below:

Per Deadline, Netflix's Little House on the Prairie has also cast the rest of the Ingalls family, including Luke Bracey and Crosby Fitzgerald as the parents, Charles and Caroline, and Skywalker Hughes as the eldest daughter, Mary.

Casting Laura Ingalls is crucial for Netflix's Little House on the Prairie since she is the main protagonist of the story. Laura Ingalls Wilder's semi-autobiographical books are based on her family's own experiences living in the American Midwest during the late 1800s, and the character of Laura is based on herself, telling much of the story through her eyes. The character even shares the author's full namesake since, later in the story, she marries Almanzo Wilder, becoming Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Though Alice Halsey is only 10 years old, she already has some valuable acting experience that she will bring to Netflix's Little House on the Prairie. Halsey made her television debut as the daughter of Brie Larson's character in the Apple TV+ series Lessons in Chemistry. She has also appeared in NBC's Night Court reboot and the daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives. Halsey will be the second actress to play Laura Ingalls on screen, after Melissa Gilbert in the original series.
