Here’s whether Paul Giamatti, the series is a modern fable set in Long Beach, California that stars Wyatt Russell as Sean “Dud” Dudley – a down-on-his-luck but eternally optimistic surfer-slacker type who finds new purpose after his father’s death, when fate leads him to a Freemasons-style fraternal order known as the Ancient & Benevolent Order of the Lynx.

The rest of the Lodge 49 cast is filled with equally quirky characters including Dud’s cynical twin sister Liz (Sonya Cassidy), his newfound friend and mentor Ernie Fontaine (Brent Jennings) and fellow Order of the Lynx Blaise St. John (David Pasquesi) and Scott Wright (Eric Allan Kramer). Hailed as one of the best new TV shows of 2018, the series was a big hit with critics too. Lodge 49 reviews praised its offbeat tone and talented cast and the show took home the award for Best Musical or Comedy Series at the 23rd Satellite Awards.

AMC aired a second successful season of the comedy-drama in 2019, but can fans expect to see Lodge 49 season 3 anytime soon? Here’s what we know about the show's status.

Lodge 49’s Season 2 Finale Ended On A Cliffhanger

Throughout Lodge 49’s two seasons on AMC, the show was praised for its mix of the mundane and mystical and the show’s season 2 finale was no different. The finale aired in late 2019 and saw Dud and his pals return to Long Beach in the aftermath of locating the Order of the Lynx’s much-coveted scrolls. Ernie was officially initiated as the sovereign protector of the Order’s Lodge 49 branch while Dud seemed to mature somewhat emotionally while landing himself a job.

However, the ending of the Lodge 49 season 2 finale threw viewers a curveball when Dud was struck by a lightning bolt and knocked unconscious, nearly drowning in mud before he was seemingly transported through a portal to a mysterious door that spat him out into the titular lodge’s parking lot. The show consistently hinted at more metaphysical aspects, but can fans expect to see Lodge 49’s confounding season 2 finale addressed in the third season?

Lodge 49 Season 3 Isn’t Happening

Unfortunately, there won’t be a Lodge 49 season 3 as AMC decided to cancel the show two weeks after the season 2 finale aired. Creator Jim Gavin and executive producers Paul Giamatti and Peter Ocko tried shopping Lodge 49 to other networks to save the show but failed to find any takers. So, it seems fans of Lodge 49 will have to make do with the two seasons of the show that did air.
