This post contains SPOILERS for Avengers Forever #13In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' Avengers Forever, the God of Mischief Loki proves his crucial role among Earth's Mightiest Heroes, making his legacy more important to the Marvel Multiverse than even his brother Thor. As seen in the ongoing battle for the fate of the multiverse, an entire army of Avengers has been assembled from multiple realities to take on Mephisto and his legions of variants known as the Council of Red. However, the true identity of the mysterious Avenger Prime has finally been revealed in response to the multiversal Army of Doom which has come right on the Council's heels.
In the new Avengers Forever #13 from Jason Aaron, Aaron Kuder, Mark Farmer, and Frank Martin, the army of Avengers received some major backup thanks to combat Doom Supreme's dark magic, revealing himself to be none other than a variant of Loki wielding the Eye of Agamotto.
Loki Was Destined To Be Marvel's Avenger Prime
In hindsight, Loki being Avenger Prime and running the Infinity Tower at the God Quarry makes a lot of sense. After all, Loki was the villain who first brought the Avengers together on Earth-616. Likewise, Avenger Prime's God of Mischief claims that Lokis have brought together Avengers across countless different dimensions in the multiverse. As such, why wouldn't a Loki be the one responsible for recruiting the biggest and most powerful assembly of Avengers of all time?
As Jason Aaron's Avengers Forever and connecting Avengers series are both headed to their epic conclusion, it's going to be very exciting to see whose magic proves stronger, Doom Supreme's or Avenger Prime's. Wielding the Eye of Agamotto is certainly a strong indicator that this version of Loki is also a Sorcerer Supreme just like this ultimate variant of Doom. Either way, Avenger Prime is the heroes' best chance at protecting the God Quarry, the source of power both Mephisto and Doom are after to rewrite existence across all realities in the multiverse.
Loki Is the Multiverse's Greatest Protector
While Thor might be a founding member of the Avengers on Earth-616, his brother is a multiversal constant who's brought together entire teams of Avengers across multiple realities, especially this Avenger Prime variant who's currently assembled this entire army of heroes. Avengers Forever has proven the God of Mischief is the ultimate protector of the Marvel Multiverse, and it will be exciting to see what happens next for this particular Loki going forward in the issues to come.
