Warning: SPOILERS for Loki episode 4.

After getting pruned by the TVA, the post-credits scene of Loki and Sylvie were even able to make sense of their discovery, the former was pruned by Ravonna Renslayer.

Based on Sylvie's revelation in Loki episode 2, the TVA decides which variants they would brainwash to be employeeS and which ones to prune. Those who suffer the latter fate are deleted from existence. Throughout the show, there have been pruning of various characters — from Loki's fellow variant who was ruthlessly erased by a TVA operative for simply losing his ticket at the start of the series to Sylvie taking out several Minutemen as she eluded them. Everyone who was touched by the TVA baton was believed to have been permanently obliterated from the face of the universe. But apparently, that's not the case.

At the end of Loki episode 4 titled "Nexus Event," Loki and Sylvie were trying to make sense of their realization that the Time-Keepers don't exist. Amidst all that, the Asgardian Prince still attempted to confess his real feelings to his variant, but before he could start, he was pruned by Ravonna. Instead of dying, the post-credits scene revealed that he was transported outside of the TVA offices to another apocalypse setting. There, he was greeted by new Loki variants: Old Loki, Kid Loki, Boastful Loki, and crocodile Loki. While the series didn't reveal where exactly the trickster ended up, based on its background where the ruined Avengers tower can be seen, he's in a destroyed New York. This is backed up by marketing footage where a wide shot of the same sequence offers a clear look at the city in shambles.

Given this new setting for Loki, it's safe to assume that a significant portion of its penultimate episode will take place in this location. Since it's where the God of Mischief encountered the Council of Lokis, they may have specifically chosen this point in space to hide from the TVA, which is somewhat similar to what Sylvie had been doing before she was caught. Old Loki invited the Asgardian Prince to come with them so he can be safe, indicating that they're well aware of what's really happening; it also seems as if they were waiting for him to arrive. Assuming that the other variants know more about what's going on, they can provide additional details so that Loki can fully understand his current predicament. They could even help him return to the TVA, reunite with Sylvie, and defeat Ravonna, after all, she's a threat to all of them since they are all variants.

Despite the familiar location, this iteration of New York in the Loki show is obviously different from what's been seen in the MCU. So, don't hold out hope that the Avengers will have a cameo simply because their HQ was in the background. While the setting is confirmed, it's uncertain when this is and how it fits in the Sacred Timeline — if it even does. It's curious what Loki's reaction will be upon realizing where he is considering that he once wanted to destroy the city. It's also the last place he was before jumping out of the Sacred Timeline and getting in this new adventure against the TVA.
