MCU's iteration of the multiverse.
Loki follows the titular Norse God of Mischief following the events of 2019's TVA to track down a rogue Loki variant who goes by the alias Sylvie. Sylvie has proven to be quite the trickster herself, utilizing her mind-control abilities to evade the TVA's enforcers. Although she is a version of Loki from an alternate timeline, she bears a few subtle similarities with Tom Hiddleston's iteration of the character as well (beyond the costume parallels).
Sylvie actress Sophia Di Martino recently offered some insight into these similarities in an exclusive interview with Screen Rant. According to Di Martino, she and Hiddleston intentionally tried "to mirror each other's steps" while walking side-by-side; the pair also "choreographed mirrored fighting stances" in action scenes to drive home the parallels. You can read her full below:
We tried to mirror each other occasionally, so whenever we're walking we try to mirror each other's steps or sometimes in the fight scenes we specifically choreographed mirrored fighting stances. In episode 3, outside the elevator, we both get into a similar pose which was all on purpose to show they're similar but different.
Comic fans have been quick to point out the similarities between the MCU's Sylvie and the Enchantress from the comics, with some theorizing that Sylvie may be a deceptive Enchantress in disguise. However, Di Martino's comments indicate that Sylvie is in fact a multiversal variant of Loki rather than a simple red herring. These extra layers of connective details go a long way in linking the two versions of the character together beyond simple aesthetic parallels.
With the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which gives audiences some time to get acquainted with the multiverse's complex rules and mechanics before it evidently descends into madness. Until then, Loki will have to satiate our dimension-hopping fix.
