Warning! Spoilers ahead for Marvel's Loki episode 4, "The Nexus Event"

In Marvel's unique and major Nexus event on the verge of rapidly becoming a permanent reality apart from the Sacred Timeline?

Being trapped on a planet nearing its total destruction, Loki and Sylvie had to work together to try and find a way off of Lamentis. That being said, Loki episode 4, "The Nexus Event" reveals that their efforts were in vain, as the ship they were hoping to get on was annihilated before they could climb aboard. Believing that the end was near, the two Lokis sat and waited for their eventual demise. However, Sylvie reached out and touched Loki's arm, and the pair of them held hands as they awaited death. Thankfully, two TVA portals arrived and they were saved. Back at the TVA, the monitor showing the stability of the sacred timeline had revealed a rapid and nearly vertical spike, indicating a major Nexus event the likes of which neither Agent Mobius nor B-15 had ever seen before, and it happened the moment Sylvie and Loki touched.

Once Mobius learns that Loki and Sylvie formed a potentially romantic connection on Lamentis, he instantly understands why the resulting branch in the timeline was so unique and potentially devastating. Two variants of the same being (who aren't supposed to exist in the first place) became attracted to one another. As such, it's no wonder that a Nexus event was created and had a rapid ascent towards redlining into permanency. According to Mobius, that would of course break reality on a massive scale, viewing Loki's crush as a twisted romance of chaotic and "seismic narcissism".

Loki Episode 4 Loki and Sylvie Touching

Keeping that in mind, it's going to be really interesting to see what the future has in store for Loki and Sylvie. By the episode's end, it looked as though the God of Mischief was about to confess his feelings for Sylvie, though he was pruned by Revonna Renslayer before he could. However, it turns out that pruning doesn't necessarily mean death, at least not for Loki. As a result, it's more than likely that the pair will reunite in future episodes, though it's unclear what will happen once they do. The episode made a great effort to make the point that Lokis are destined to be alone and to always lose, though it seems as though this variant Loki is ready to flip the script and write his own reality, Time-Keepers and their Sacred Timeline be damned.

While all sorts of feelings can no doubt be felt amidst a planetary apocalypse, Loki appears to like Sylvie and have persistent feelings for her even after they were saved, though it's unclear if Sylvie herself feels the same way. Regardless, it certainly seems as though any sort of relationship the pair might have down the line has the capacity to break the Sacred Timeline. The question then remains: will either of the Lokis even care now that they know the truth about the TVA?
