Nick Thompson and Danielle Ruhl were a divisive couple in Love Is Blind season 2, and many fans were shocked by the update they gave about their relationship. Nearly a year after filming, Nick and Danielle were still together. It seems that Nick and Danielle in real life are far different than they were on the show and that their relationship had a good chance of working out. In the pods, Danielle and Nick developed a fast connection, and Nick was the first one of the men to pop the question.

Though they were thrilled when they finally saw each other face-to-face, it wasn’t long before friction started to develop. During their trip to Mexico, Danielle skipped the couples cocktail party because she had a panic attack, and Nick was having a hard time understanding what Danielle needed from him. Their arguing didn’t end when they got back to Chicago, and it seemed the couple would never make it down the aisle. However, in the finale, Nick and Danielle got married in a heartfelt (and sweaty) ceremony.

What Happened To Danielle & Nick After Love Is Blind Season 2

They Spoke About Their Issues

On the reunion show, Nick and Danielle were in a relationship and co-host Vanessa Lachey commented that the two even had coordinated outfits. Danielle remarked that the environment of the show was a “pressure cooker,” and it caused them to get into many fights.

Once we actually got into the real life, a lot of the disagreements that we had ended up being nonexistent,” she said.

Nick revealed that they attended couples therapy together, which has helped them to “listen more [and] talk less.” Though they were one of the two couples to get married this season, there were still doubts about Danielle and Nick’s relationship. While the pair were good for a while after filming, they didn't last.

Did Love Is Blind's Danielle & Nick Divorce?

Yes, They Did

On August 21, 2022, Danielle filed for divorce from Nick a few days after fellow Love Is Blind season 2 couple Iyanna McNeely and Jarrette Jones announced their split. The couple had been looking forward to having a baby and wanted to get married again after walking down the aisle on the Netflix series. However, the marriage only lasted a few months after their one-year anniversary in June 2022.

There wasn’t a big catastrophic event,” Nick told Us Weekly in October 2022. “I wasn’t feeling like I was getting the partnership I needed to be successful and to kind of move forward with the relationship,” he added. Nick and Danielle no longer follow each other on Instagram.

In February 2025, Nick went The Wall Street Journal's podcast, The Journal, and discussed the alleged mistreatment of Love Is Blind cast while filming and how his life has fared for the worst since being on the show. Nick also alleges that he lost his job due to his affiliation with the show. He also stated that he could not get hired anywhere because of the show as well and was on the brink of homelessness because he couldn't afford his mortgage.

Since then, Nick has bounced back, runs a podcast of his own, and has secured a job. He says he was paid $10,000 for his time in season 2.

Nick said he and Danielle weren’t speaking to each other, while she blamed him for not taking ability for the demise of their marriage. According to Danielle, Nick had intended to go on another reality show and blamed her for potentially being unable to. In March 2023, Danielle opened up about certain things that negatively impacted her mental health during filming. While filming Love Is Blind, she "gained 20 pounds," Danielle told ET. Meanwhile, Nick who’s a mental health and wellness advocate has been busy giving self-help advice on Instagram.
