Zack Goytowski made a mistake with his choice in Love Is Blind season 4. The show took Netflix by storm in February 2020, just before the pandemic hit and viewers were confined to their homes. Luckily, the sheer horror and intrigue of watching strangers fall in love without seeing each other provided the distraction many viewers needed.
The first five episodes of Love Is Blind season 4 released on March 24, featuring the same entertainment value of seasons past, including an unfortunate love triangle. Zack, a 31-year-old criminal defense lawyer, connected with two very different women in the pods, and stereotypical catfighting ensued. With his boyish good looks and jiu-jitsu hobby, Zack was not ready to have two women competing for his love. Unfortunately for Zack, it’s already clear he made the wrong choice.
Zack Chooses Irina Over Bliss On Love Is Blind Season 4
After mere days of dating two Love Is Blind season 4 cast , Bliss Poureetezadi, a 33-year-old senior program manager working in cybersecurity, and Irina Solomonova, a 26-year-old business owner originally from Russia, Zack ditched Bliss and asked the controversial Irina to marry him. This bogus decision came after days of ignoring obvious red flags surrounding Irina’s mean-girl attitude, selfishness, and bluntness bordering on cruelty.
Irina and Micah Are Mean Girls On Love Is Blind Season 4
Irina’s mean-spirited attitude should have been apparent to Zack through their conversations, but it was especially palpable to viewers. Almost immediately, Irina bonded with fellow mean girl Micah Lussier, a 27-year-old marketing manager. When Micah forced Paul Peden to break things off with Amber Wilder and commit only to her, she and Irina giggled giddily at Amber’s tears and even spied on her as she sobbed to Chelsea Griffin, a 31-year-old speech-language pathologist.
Perhaps Irina's cringiest behavior in Love Is Blind season 4 was her clear animosity toward Bliss when she chose to make cupcakes for Zack’s birthday. Irina awkwardly asked Bliss for a candle, upset that she had forgotten Zack’s birthday and had nothing to give him. The normally sweet Bliss stood up for herself, refused, and acknowledged how weird it was that Irina would ask that. Irina threw Bliss under the bus in the pods and tried to make her look silly for making Zack’s birthday special. For all of Zack’s assertions that he trusted Irina and found her genuine, she came across as anything but.
By the time Zack made the choice to kick Bliss to the curb, Irina had displayed her inability to be kind tenfold. She even said she had difficulty being nice at one point, and Chelsea asked her why. She didn’t have a good answer, and Chelsea suggested that mean people are just insecure. Given that Irina’s initial talking head featured her insecurity about terrible acne in her childhood, it seems that Chelsea was correct.
Even after telling Irina in the pods that she was blunt, even vicious, Zack proposed, but it's unlikely they will make it to the Love Is Blind season 4 finale. While all of the other couples happily kissed each other upon meeting, Irina was noticeably disappointed with what she saw. His painfully optimistic reaction to her obvious disdain was hard to watch, and she wouldn’t even kiss him. While this is understandable given the unnatural structure of the Love Is Blind experiment, paired with her other red flags, it doesn’t look good for Irina and Zack.
Zack and Irina’s onscreen disaster only worsened once the troubled couple traveled to Mexico. While other pairs engaged in physical intimacy and built deeper connections, Zack and Irina’s scenes together were stilted and awkward. Irina asserted that she loves being best friends with Zack but wasn't ready for intimacy despite being a very physical person. She never missed an opportunity to criticize him, even embarrassingly making fun of him for finishing all the food on his plate during a beachside date.
Unsurprisingly, Irina itted she doesn't find Zack physically attractive in her talking heads, even saying she expected him to look more “normal." Zack, for his part, is conventionally attractive, with perfectly tousled dark hair and a winning smile, so it’s unclear what es for "normal" in Irina’s eyes until all the couples unite in Mexico.
In Mexico, Irina immediately began flirting with Paul, a 29-year-old environmental scientist, with whom she claims to have a physical attraction. Irina even paired up with her mean bestie Micah (who, ironically, matched with Paul) and itted that when Zack touches her, it gives her an icky feeling. Overall, it wasn't looking good for Zack, who was nowhere to be found.
Over the course of Love Is Blind episode 5, it became painfully clear to both Zack and Irina that they weren't suited for each other. In perhaps her only genuine moment of the show, Irina was able to it her open disdain for Zack, and he suggested that they call it. Even as Zack tried to stand up for himself, Irina was rude and kept saying how she couldn't stand to even look at him. Although it was awkward to watch, thankfully, the pair had the good sense to call it quits during a honeymoon phase that Zack called "horrible."
At the tail end of episode 5, Zack was back in Seattle and met beautiful Bliss at a coffee shop, where he began the conversation by saying he made the wrong choice. Unfortunately, viewers will have to wait until next week's episodes, releasing March 31, to find out if Zack and Bliss find love with each other. Irina, for her part, looks set to cause trouble with Micah and Paul.
Unfortunately for Zack, he absolutely made the wrong choice in picking Irina initially. Whereas Bliss handled Irina’s antics with maturity and patience, Irina took every opportunity to cut down Bliss and any other woman in the pods. As for Zack and Bliss' budding romance, the outcome lies in future episodes.
