Love Island USA season 2 star Mackenzie Dipman shared a lengthy statement explaining why she and Connor Trott have decided to break up. Mackenzie and Connor met on their first day of filming CBS' Love Island USA. Connor was among the six day-one boys who were introduced into the villa, and Mackenzie was one of the five day-one girls. Despite the fact that they first coupled up based solely on first impressions, there was clearly something there between Connor and Mackenzie. Alas, the public was initially hesitant to trust that things would work out between these two.

As the weeks went on inside the Love Island USA villa, the public voted for Connor to go on dates in order to venture out of his relationship with Mackenzie. When Casa Amor was introduced, the fans also thought that Mackenzie and Connor would have their heads turned right away. When it came down to it, however, Connor came back from Casa Amor by himself, while Mackenzie recoupled with newcomer Jalen Noble. Nonetheless, Mackenzie and Connor were indeed in love with each other, which prompted them to be eliminated from the show at separate times. And in the midst of every other season 2 couple breaking up, Connor and Mackenzie became the last couple standing.

Unfortunately, Mackenzie and Connor's post-Love Island USA relationship has now come to an end, and she shared a lengthy statement via Instagram Story explaining the reasons why. Mackenzie started out reminding the fans that she and Conor are just starting out new careers. In their pursuit of professional growth, Mackenzie has committed to living in Tucson, Arizona, whereas Connor has just accepted a full-time job in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She added, "So over the last couple of weeks, we have started having some difficult conversations about our future. Ultimately we both realized that our lives are moving in different directions." Mackenzie explained that this has been a tough decision, then asked the fans to keep ing them as individuals.

Mackenzie's Love Island USA breakup statement then left some room for the possibility of them getting back together someday. The fan-favorite islander wrote, "We are unsure of what the future holds for us, but one thing is certain, we will always have each other. And we will forever be grateful that Love Island brought us together." The statement ended with a joke about Connor and his teddy bear, Gus, planning a "boys' weekend" for themselves.

Connor and Mackenzie had become the last couple still together from Love Island USA season 2. As such, it is now official that every single couple formed in the Las Vegas villa has ultimately broken up.
