The White Lotus star Lukas Gage reveals that he would love to play a part in a potential miniseries adaptation of the Gwyneth Paltrow trial. The Oscar-winning actor and Goop founder was recently in court when an optometrist accused her of running into him on a ski slope in 2016. The trial went viral for many reasons, but quite a few memes centered around attorney Kristin VanOrman, who represented the optometrist. VanOrman had many memorable moments of what appeared to be fangirling, including a bizarre conversation where she and Paltrow compared their heights.

Gage, who memorably played White Lotus resort staff member Dillon for five episodes, including the White Lotus season 1 finale, recently spoke with People at a tequila launch party. During their conversation, he revealed that he would love to play the attorney, saying, "I could bring that role to life. I would love to." He went on to say that Ryan Murphy should make the trial into a miniseries. Read Gage's full quote below:

Give me the opportunity to play this role. This is what I'm talking about, when people confuse actors for their real-life character. Of course, I'm not equipped to be a lawyer and be in this case, but God, I could bring that role to life. I would love to. Me and that blue suit.

Can you see it? A little wig on, a little makeup, and just the way that [she] and Gwen had a chemistry with each other, that whole case was beautiful to watch. I loved it, I wish it was longer.

Listen, Ryan Murphy, we got to make this series. We got to make this happen.

Lukas Gage Could Probably Make a Paltrow Trial Miniseries Happen

Lukas Gage in You season 4

Gage's quote about potentially playing VanOrman onscreen was made in jest. However, the rising star could very well make the miniseries happen should he legitimately wish to. There is now a precedent for celebrity trials coming to streaming, as Tubi proved with their 2022 movie Hot Take, a project that dramatized the defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.

Gage has also increased his cachet in the industry considerably since his appearance on The White Lotus. In addition to appearances on Queer as Folk and Angelyne, the star ed the You season 4 cast, becoming a major facet of the hit Netflix stalker series. He also has prominent roles coming soon in Fargo and The Other Two, continuing his ascent into the television star stratosphere and giving him much more control over the future roles he could potentially take.

In fact, it's somewhat surprising that Lukas Gage hasn't already worked with Ryan Murphy. The TV mega-producer has a penchant for casting rising stars in the stories of real-life pop culture controversies, so he might even be on board. While the Paltrow trial series likely won't ever come to fruition, it doesn't seem that far outside the realm of possibility.
