One of the most crucial moments for Ahsoka Tano’s journey in Star Wars has been completely overlooked. The franchise has covered almost the entirety of Ahsoka's life, from her birth in Tales of Jedi, to her search for Ezra Bridger in the Ahsoka series. She’s come a long way from her initial debut as a spunky Padawan in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie, where she was voiced by Ashley Eckstein. Rosario Dawson brought Ahsoka to live-action in The Book of Boba Fett. Now, along with Din Djarin, Ahsoka pioneers a new era of Star Wars in between Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Ahsoka’s character arc has been woven throughout the Star Wars timeline, but the franchise has always given special emphasis to her relationship with Anakin Skywalker. In Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 5, Ahsoka’s decision to leave the Jedi complimented Anakin’s character by showing the audience yet another reason why he fell to the dark side. In Star Wars Rebels, she was forced to deal with her decision when she came face to face with Anakin as Darth Vader. However, despite her relationship with Anakin being a huge aspect of her character, Star Wars has yet to show her wrap up that arc in her life.
The Book of Boba Fett Revealed Ahsoka Has Already Met Luke Skywalker
Unlike Ahsoka, Luke Skywalker’s resolution with Anakin Skywalker was shown at the end of Return of the Jedi. In Anakin’s final moments, Luke was able to make peace with him. However, The Book of Boba Fett showed Ahsoka has already met Luke, meaning she’s likely already heard of Anakin’s redemption from him. But because all of this happened off-screen, the audience is left wondering how Ahsoka felt when she heard her old master had finally returned to the light. She last left Anakin as Vader in Star Wars Rebels, yet Star Wars hasn’t shown her making peace with him.
Not only has Star Wars skipped Ahsoka’s reaction to hearing the end of Anakin’s story, but it’s also left out Luke hearing what his father was like in his youth. Ahsoka is one of the few characters left alive after Return of the Jedi who was close with Anakin when he was a Jedi. She has an innumerable amount of stories about Anakin, many of which Luke would be thrilled to hear. Understanding how his father acted before turning to the dark side would help Luke focus on the Anakin side of his father rather than the Vader side.
Why Has Star Wars Skipped A Defining Moment For Ahsoka & Luke?
Ahsoka and Luke’s meeting helped both of them to heal from the wrongs Anakin did to them, yet Star Wars refuses to show it. It’s possible they’re still saving this moment for a future movie or show, but it’s unlikely given Mark Hamill’s reluctance to return as Luke Skywalker. It seems the franchise has skipped over Ahsoka and Luke’s meeting because it didn’t fit in the story of The Book of Boba Fett or The Mandalorian, but there’s still hope it can be covered in an animated show. In any case, Star Wars has missed out on showing Ahsoka’s first meeting with Luke.
