The closing credits for Netflix" Assane Diop.
Lupin stars Omar Sy as a Senegalese Frenchman named Assane Diop. Inspired by adventure stories about master thief Arsène Lupin, he adopts the character's persona as an adult while investigating a conspiracy that seemingly led to his father's suicide. The Netflix show co-stars French actress Ludivine Sagnier as the protagonist's ex-wife, Claire.
The Lupin part 1 finale includes plenty of familial drama, as Assane travels to Étretat, with Claire and their 14-year-old son, Raoul. Flashback sequences detail the context for the thief's broken romance, and help explain why Claire becomes a bit nervous when Assane disappears during the train ride. As with the previous four Lupin episodes, there's a wink-of-the-eye nod to the audience during a climactic confrontation, but Netflix leaves viewers hanging with not one, but two major reveals. Since Assane is such a likeable gentleman thief, fans of the series may be stressed out about his immediate future. Here's what to expect for Lupin part 2.
Lupin Part 2 Release Date Info
As of January 2021, Netflix hasn't set an official release date for Lupin part 2, but new episodes will presumably release in the second half of the year. And given that the first batch of episodes have been incredibly popular, it's safe to assume that Netflix will greenlight Lupin season 2 (or rather, part 3) as well. Most likely Lupin part 2 will drop sometime in early summer 2021, or perhaps by late spring if the demand is high.
Lupin Part 2 Story Details
The Netflix show.
Looking ahead, Lupin part 2 will most likely center on Assane's ability issues. He pleads for one more chance with Claire in the part 1 finale, and puts his son in immense danger by living a dangerous lifestyle. Assane does indeed have the smarts and skills to escape from Guedira and subsequently track down Raoul, but there will undoubtedly be family-related consequences in the near future, as Claire probably won't put up with any more nonsense. Lupin part 2 on Netflix may show Assane trying to be a family man, but it seems inevitable that he'll continue his same ol' ways as a gentleman thief, someone who is simply addicted to the thrills of it all, along with the satisfaction that comes from a perfectly-executed heist.
