The actors themselves were talented and helped to bring the characters to life with their distinct and individual personalities.

Each character brought something fresh to the show, whether it was the mystery of Don Draper or the comedy of Roger Sterling, everyone had a place. The main characters themselves all get some key moments within the series, but what is their most iconic scene from the show?

Betty Draper: Shooting Birds

Betty Draper is quite a placid character that typically lets others walk over her. While she might lose her patience with her children, when it comes to other adults, Betty is often not someone who is going to cause any problems with others.

However, in her greatest scene, Betty takes out a gun and spends her time trying to shoot her neighbor's pigeons after a series of bad situations take place. It's a great moment of Betty just taking control of a situation, and doing it in such a relaxed manner with a cigarette in her mouth while she does it.

Sally Draper: All Grown Up

Don Draper and Sally together in Mad Men

Throughout the entire series, Sally is trying to act older than she is. Whether she's making cocktails at dinner parties as a child or secretly smoking in the bathroom, Sally always wants to be seen on the same level as the other adults she's around.

So when Don agrees to take her to a work event, Sally takes the opportunity and goes shopping with Megan. When she comes out dressed up it wows everyone, with this being the moment she truly does feel grown-up and her personality is more feisty following this moment, embracing who she truly wants to be.

Pete Campbell: The Wedding Dance

Pete Campbell does a lot of shady things throughout Mad Men, often backstabbing people and doing whatever he deems necessary to climb the ladder. But as the series goes on he does improve as a person, and that is why his most iconic scene is actually a comedic moment.

At Roger's wedding, he and Trudy decide to bust out some moves in a scene that highlights Pete in a totally different manner. Here, the couple put together an amazing dance routine that Ross and Monica Geller would be jealous of, creating a scene nobody will forget in a hurry.

Lane Pryce: Fighting Pete

Lane Pryce is a terrific part of Mad Men, with his emotional storyline being one of the most gripping parts of the series. However, while things do take a dark turn for his character, Lane also brings plenty of comedy as well on the show. He's not someone who typically likes confrontation, but that is what makes his big fallout with Pete such an iconic moment.

The two men don't see eye to eye and that ends up in them having a literal fistfight inside the office. It takes place in the middle of a meeting, which is something that nobody expects, and everyone stands and watches, allowing them to physically deal with their issues. On a show that doesn't feature much action, this takes everyone by surprise and becomes a memorable part of the series.

Megan Draper: A Birthday Song

Speaking of memorable scenes, Megan Draper's birthday song to Don is another moment that fans do not forget. Megan is an eccentric character and someone who has no problem putting on a show and being vibrant, and that was clear during Don's birthday party.

She opted to not buy him a present, but instead, she was the present. Megan puts on a stunning performance, singing and dancing to Don with a live band, which left all of the other guests amazed, despite the fact that Don was actually furious about it.

Bert Cooper: The Best Things In Life Are Free

Another great musical moment that takes place in Mad Men comes courtesy of Bert Cooper. He's a mysterious character throughout the show, having certain quirks that people don't truly understand, but this scene after his death is a great one.

Don looks back down the office one more time and just so happens to see his mentor, Bert stood there, despite the fact he's ed away. Here, Don imagines Bert one final time as he sings to him, putting together a dance number at the same time in what is a bizarre, yet unforgettable scene.

Roger Sterling: An LSD Trip

Roger Sterling is a hilarious character who has no shortage of big moments within Mad Men. He's a charismatic character who likes to be the center of attention, and that allows him to be seen as a big deal in many of his scenes.

However, his best scene comes when he and Jane decide to take LSD. The trip that he goes on is incredible, from his hair changing to sitting in the bath and thinking he's at a baseball game. The scene also brings their relationship to an end in a very polite divorce conversation which wraps up a funny scene overall.

Joan Holloway: Dumping Greg

Joan dumps Greg in Mad Men

Joan Holloway is a strong character, but she is put through a lot of emotional situations within Mad Men. However, none are worse than what Greg does to her. The two stay together for a while after, but when Joan makes the decision to dump Greg and kick him out of her life, fans are left jumping for joy.

It's a terrific moment as she stands up to him, making it crystal clear that he isn't a good person, and he never has been. She references that fateful night and then tells him to get out, claiming she and their child no longer need him, which is an epic moment of strength for her.

Don Draper: The Suitcase

Mad Men Don and Peggy The Suitcase

'The Suitcase' episode is often praised as the greatest that Mad Men ever created, and for good reason. It's a gripping episode and one that has tons of drama, but ultimately, it is the scene between Don and Peggy that makes this one stand out and is where Don shines.

Here, he is not shown in a positive manner, but instead as an angry boss demanding work from Peggy. He forces her to stay and help him with a pitch despite the fact it is her birthday and she has a meal arranged. Don screaming "that's what the money is for," has gone down as one of his greatest quotes and it is a truly defining scene for him.  Of course, they end up having food and sleeping in the office as well, showing a tender moment at the same time.

Peggy Olson: Telling Don She's Leaving

Peggy Olson leaving after telling Don she quits in Mad Men

Peggy Olson is an amazing lead character in this series, which does primarily focus on following her journey from starting as Don's office girl to being one of the top rs in the industry. She and Don have an amazing friendship where they push each other but work excellently together as well.

Don never pushes the boundaries with Peggy, which is one of the only people he doesn't flirt with. But that's due to the respect he has, which is what makes the scene where Peggy quits the company such an emotional one. Peggy is fighting back the tears as she makes it clear no financial offer will keep her working for Don. It's a powerful moment for her as she finally steps up for her own career, but it is an emotional part of the series as well.
