When talking about some of the best television shows to have ever graced a screen, it's only a matter of time before one of the greatest television shows of all time, and a major reason for why this is the case is the colorful cast of characters, each of whom has been brilliantly written to add their own flavor to any scene they're featured in.

Don Draper might be the most obvious mention when it comes to the topic of excellent Mad Men characters, but his family should also be given due credit for making the show all the more engrossing. Sally Draper is an excellent mention in this regard, initially coming off as nothing more than an unsuspecting child before growing up in a way that no one would've expected. That being said, this growth spurt did come with its fair share of nonsensical occurrences.

She's Walked Into A Ton Of People Getting It On Across The Series

Every fan of the series is well aware of the scene in which Sally walks in on Don getting it on with Sylvia, creating a permanent rift between her and her father as a result.

However, that's not the only time she's walked in on people. She's seen her father and mother getting freaky at a young age too, and there's also the scene where she sees below-the-belt action, as well.

It's Surprising How Accepting She Is Of Don Being A Womanizer

Don Draper and Bobbie Barrett in Mad Men

While her initial reaction to Don being an adulterer might've been rather understandable, it's weird how quickly Sally completely forgets about an event that should be quite traumatic.

In fact, she seems to not just accept Don's womanizing tendencies but forgive him for them too. This will be elaborated upon in the next point.

She Should've Told Betty Or Megan About Don's Adultery

Megan and Don in Mad Men

It's weird that Sally never really bothered to open up to anyone about Don cheating on Megan. The least she could've done was either talk to her mother or tell Megan that Don was essentially making a fool out of her. However, she did neither and the relationship between Don and Megan just ended up fizzling out as a result.

It's Hard To Believe That She Would Forgive Don After Seeing His Orphanage

Young Don Draper from Mad Men

Of course, one can't help but mention the contrived manner in which Don tried to make his children — and especially Sally — understand their father.

While the scene where Don decides to show his children the place of his childhood might've been rather heartwarming, it essentially just served as a ham-fisted way to make Sally "understand" Don's womanizing ways, when ideally this kind of behavior shouldn't be explained away with emotional manipulation.

Betty Treated Her Horribly At Times

Of course, it's not like Betty was any better when it came to her daughter. In fact, one might argue that Betty was downright abusive with Sally at times.

However, it's not the abuse that is the worst way Betty has treated Sally. Rather, it's something else that revealed Betty's true colors ...

The Fact That She Was Used As A Tool To Spy On Don Is Revolting

Don banters with his daughter Sally in Mad Men

The worst Betty has ever treated Sally is completely throwing away her daughter's humanity and using her as an elaborate tool to spy on Don in order to get the validation that her ex-husband is completely lost without her.

Of course, this is not even remotely the case — rather, Sally ends up making Betty feel even worse about herself by revealing the fact that Don was perfectly fine, which one could label as karma ... somewhat.

Don Should've Been Allowed More Time With Her

Don and Sally in Mad Men

All of the points discussed above add more weight to the fact that Don should've been given more time with Sally and the rest of the kids.

The fact that Don knew he wasn't completely responsible for the kids meant that he could ease himself into a life of skirting responsibility instead of facing it head on. Meanwhile, Sally, who was always closer to her dad than her mom, ended up becoming more distant from her parents in general, due to her dad's unavailability and her mom's abuse.

It's Weird How Surprised Betty Is By The Fact That Sally Acts Out Frequently

Sally in Mad Men

It must be said that Betty lacks any kind of self-awareness whatsoever, especially if she's genuinely confused by why Sally ends up lashing out at her numerous times throughout the latter half of the series.

It was only a given that Sally could only deal with so much negativity in her life — a large part of which was essentially supplied by her mother herself — before she decided to lash out and rebel against the injustices she had to deal with.

The Fact That She And Glen Became Friends Feels Somewhat Forced

Glen Bishop from Mad Men

Glen's inclusion in the series mainly felt like a way to deepen Betty's character, so the fact that he actually became a mainstay in the series, who also ended up being close to the daughter of the woman he had a lifelong crush on, was rather weird. In fact, one might go so far as to say that this friendship was a bit too convenient for one's liking.

They Never Really Engaged In Anything Romantic Either, Which Is Rather Odd

Glen and Betty standing close together on Mad Men

Regardless of the circumstances, there's still no denying the fact that Sally and Glen were still very close, but they never really crossed a line into intimacy.

This may seem normal at first glance, but Glen was notorious for scoring with girls as the series progressed. Did he really never make a move on Sally all that time?
