From the classic celebrities that have been around for years to the rising stars that are growing in popularity, the world is full of talented and entertaining actors. And while everyone has their favorite celeb and movie and television show, it can be fun to look back in time.
That being said, this list will take a walk down memory lane. It will focus on 10 major actors and show how they looked in their first big roles back in the day compared to how they are and how they look now!
Robert De Niro
Let's begin with a true icon... In 1968, Robert De Niro was in a movie called Greetings, which was about men avoiding the Vietnam War draft and which is pictured here. After this, this actor went on to star in some huge hits, such as Mean Streets in 1973, Raging Bull in 1980.
All of these were directed by The Irishman, which was released last year and which is pictured here.
Jennifer Aniston
One of Jennifer Aniston’s first roles was playing a spoiled daughter in horror flick Dumplin'.
Last year, she also was seen in an Reese Witherspoon sometimes appeared on Friends as Jill.
Will Smith
From 1990 through 1996, Will Smith was the star of a television series called The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Following that role, he moved on to flicks like Men in Black. Yes, he has been in the spotlight for quite some time.
Fast forward, and this actor got to play the Genie in the live-action version of last year, and he reprised his role for this year’s Bad Boys For Life, as seen here.
Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie’s parents, Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, are actors. Her brother, James Haven, is an actor. Her uncle, Chip Taylor, is a singer-songwriter. So talent runs in her family. That being said, she got her start in 1982, when she was a character named Tosh in a movie called Lookin' to Get Out. She was just a small child at this time, which is evident from this photo!
Over the years, this celebrity has been in tons and tons of more works, and she recently played a Disney villain, Maleficent, in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
Johnny Depp
Another big star is Johnny Depp, and his first role was as Glen Lantz (in his crop top jersey) in Wes Craven’s 21 Jump Street from 1987 to 1990.
Over the years, his main focus has been movies, and he has appeared in a number of Tim Burton’s stories, as well as in a number of stories centered around Captain Jack Sparrow. One of his most recent roles has been as Gellert Grindelwald, pictured here, in the Fantastic Beasts film series.
Halle Berry
Back in 1989, Halle Berry was on a television series titled Living Dolls as a character named Emily Franklin. That role can be seen here. Then, in 1991, she was in her first three films: Jungle Fever, Strictly Business and The Last Boy Scout.
As her career grew, she went on to appear in some very notable works and play some very notable characters, such as Storm in the John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum as Sofia, and this character can also be seen above.
George Clooney
In the ‘80s, George Clooney was on TV as Mark "Ace" Kolmar; this character was part of a short-lived sitcom called E/R. In the ‘90s (then again in 2000 and in 2009), he was on TV as Dr. Doug Ross; this character was part of a medical drama called ER.
From there, Clooney went on to star as Batman, Danny Ocean and beyond. He also got into directing and producing. His most recent film was Money Monster in 2016, while his most recent work on television, shown in the accompanying image, was playing Scheisskopf in Catch-22.
Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep is one of the most acclaimed actors of all time, and she has been in the spotlight for years and years. From dramas and comedies to rom-coms and animated works, she entertains fans of all ages.
Let's look back at her past... In the 1970s, she was Anne Marie in Julia and Joanna Kramer in Kramer vs. Kramer, to name a few. And in 2019, she was Mary Louise Wright in the TV show Little Women, which is pictured here.
Brad Pitt
Brad Pitt may be the most well-known actor out there, but this was not always the case. Just look back at his work from the year 1987; his roles include "guy at beach with drink", "black-tie party guest", "waiter" and "partygoer/preppie guy at fight".
But then, it happened. He was J.D. in Thelma & Louise in 1991, as seen from his before photo. He was Tyler Durden in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in 2019.
Drew Barrymore
Last but not least is Drew Barrymore. Her first acting gig came in the year 1980; it was a film that was titled Altered States, and she played Margaret Jessup. Two years later, she was in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and the rest is history!
For those wanting to know about her most recent work... In 2015, she was in a film titled Miss You Already, and this year, she will appear in The Stand-In as a character who is named Candy.
