Boba Fett is one of the most iconic characters from the franchise and he will supposedly be making an appearance in the second series. There's plenty of reasons to be excited about this, but should he actually make a comeback? Here are 5 reasons why the character should return and 5 why he almost certainly shouldn't.
Shouldn't Return: Seen His Story Before
The story of Boba Fett has been shown both in the prequels a little bit and in the follow Clone Wars animated series. There may be nothing new to look at here, therefore.
A range of comics has also demonstrated his time as a bounty hunter. Although it'll be interesting to see him after the Sarlacc pit, there's still not a lot of new ground to tread with the warrior.
Should Return: Popular Character
Boba Fett is one of the most popular characters in Star Wars lore. Ever since he was first seen on screen, fans managed to create all sorts of stories about who this mysterious man really was.
He's still recognized as a key character in the franchise, despite hardly being featured across the Skywalker saga. This could be a perfect time to put the right amount of focus on him.
Shouldn't Return: Overshadow Mandalorian
The Mandalorian is already quite a well-developed character, but he is clearly inspired in part by Boba Fett. It's therefore perhaps not a good idea to pair the two against one another.
The Mandalorian character is only just getting off the ground and to put him up against such a famous character could result in him being overshadowed in many ways. Or perhaps what would be more damaging is if Boba Fett became overshadowed!
Should Return: Could Work Well Within Story
Boba Fett would work extremely well within this show. Since there seems to be a new mission each week, he doesn't have to appear as an ongoing character throughout the season.
What's more, since the Mandalorian lore is being explored further, one of the most famous wearers of their armor is Boba Fett. It would be interesting to see how other Mandalorian's feel about this potential impostor.
Shouldn't Return: Too Many Comebacks
There are so many comebacks potentially happening in season 2 that it's difficult to argue that there should be another one in the show. Ahsoka, Rex, and Sabine have all been rumored for the show.
Adding Boba Fett as well may just be too much. Each of these new characters should get the same amount of attention and time certainly shouldn't be stolen from the biggest return of them all.
Should Return: Great Design
The design of the character is what made him stand out in the first place. The Boba Fett armor essentially built up fan's understanding of Mandalore and their culture.

Luckily the design has become so iconic that it has become widely recognizable to the general public and mainstream audiences. While the show has quite a mixed tone, with baby Yoda adding to the comedic moments, the series also has a western grittiness to it. However, Boba Fett's past may actually not mesh very well with the show. Many fans actually see Fett as being quite a goofy character. He hasn't been seen to do much on-screen and his apparent death was all due to him being clumsy. Perhaps he should be left in the past. The Aftermath series actually saw a character find the Boba Fett armor and start to wear it. While it alluded to the fact that Fett was still alive, it also continued on the story. The Mandalorian has supposedly cast someone in that role which could show that the series is willing to follow up a plot thread from the books. This demonstrates how connected this universe really is. There have been rumors of a Boba Fett movie for some time, with Josh Trank even signed on to direct at one stage. But there could be more value in bringing back the character in a film. Adding him into The Mandalorian could make it seem like he's a bit of an afterthought. If there is a creative pitch for him then a film might be the best way to showcase it. The idea of Boba Fett and Mandalorian actually crossing over is one that many fans are eager to see. The two most famous bounty hunters and men that have been influenced by Mandalore. Whether they are allies or fighting against one another it's sure to be a speculator piece of event television that Disney would be silly to overlook.
