The final episode of Star Wars series.
The Darksaber was a black-bladed lightsaber that was created by Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Pre Vizsla was the owner of the Darksaber in The Clone Wars until he was killed by Darth Maul, who took control of the saber as well as the Star Wars Rebels. Sabine then ed the saber to Bo-Katan Kryze, who she believed was the right person to lead the fellow Mandalorians against the Empire. It seems probable that Moff Gideon killed Bo-Katan at some point during "The Purge" considering he served as an Imperial Security Bureau officer during the timeframe. Gideon may have taken control of the Darksaber, but Din's role in the Purge may indicate that he's the true heir to the weapon.
Din Djarin Is Connected To The Darksaber's Original Owner
A flashback during The Mandalorian season 1 finale revealed that Din was rescued and raised by the Mandalorians from a young age. The signet on their armor indicated that they were of House Vizsla's Death Watch. It's unclear if these were ers of Darth Maul as many Mandalorians didn't consider themselves his allies. Either way, Din was just a foundling, but he was still a member of Clan Vizsla. His direct connection to the forgers of the Darksaber could very well mark him as the rightful heir to the saber. The Mandalorians would rather want someone from Clan Vizsla to have the Darksaber and Din's prominence in Star Wars lore hints that he's destined for greater responsibility.
Due to Din's upbringing with Mandalore culture, he very likely would have insight into the rightful claims of the Darksaber. That said, he never actually saw Gideon using the weapon following the TIE fighter crash. The group on Nevarro never witness Gideon emerging from the wreckage so his survival indicates the villain's return in The Mandalorian season 2. The Darksaber, as well as, the mystery surrounding the ancient saber's whereabouts between Rebels and The Mandalorian will surely be in focus next season, as could Din's journey into obtaining the saber. It will be interesting to see if Din ever gets the opportunity to wield the special weapon, bringing it back to the Mandalorians.
