Star Wars thanks to its story and characters. The first season of The Mandalorian was a runaway success for Lucasfilm and Disney+. The live-action Star Wars series was the first of its kind and immediately found a massive following. Disney+ will soon release the second season of The Mandalorian, and fans are hopeful that the next adventure with Mando and Baby Yoda will be just as satisfying as the first.
Even though there has been no marketing for season 2, all eyes are on The Mandalorian to unite the fandom once again. The mixed reception to Star Wars: The Bad Batch left some less than thrilled with the next animated series. However, what is known about The Mandalorian season 2 isn't just exciting on its own, but it can also help unify every section of the galaxy far, far away.
The first season of The Mandalorian was already familiar to Star Wars fans for several reasons, but season 2 will include at least one character from the original trilogy. Boba Fett is set to be part of the new story, which will bring answers to questions fans have had for nearly 40 years. But, the return of Boba Fett will do more than just connect the show to the original trilogy, as Temuera Morrison is playing Boba. Morrison previously played his father Jango Fett and all the clones in the prequels, so his role here will make Boba a blend of the original and prequel trilogies.
The Mandalorian season 2 will also reportedly feature the Star Wars: Rebels.
There will also be connections for fans of Legends, the sequel trilogy, and the larger Star Wars canon to recognize. The presence of the Darksaber and the possibility of exploring the ancient origins of the weapon could see the show borrow elements from the fan-favorite video game Knights of the Old Republic. Meanwhile, the show's setting will continue to grow closer to the events of the sequel trilogy, as the foundation of the First Order could be explored. There are even reports that Cobb Vanth, a character from canon novels who took Boba Fett's armor, will be featured in some capacity.
If the second season of The Mandalorian does include everything that is expected, there will be something from all eras of Star Wars. Boba Fett will cover the original trilogy, and the Legends era can be addressed with the origins of Mandalore and the Darksaber. The prequels will be featured through Morrison's return, and the age of Clone Wars will be included with Ahsoka's return. Then, the new Star Wars canon materials will be featured through Cobb Vanth, and even the state of the galaxy could evolve to how it looked in the sequel trilogy. And, since Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are deeply engrained in all aspects of Star Wars' past, The Mandalorian season 2 is sure to include even more connections to unify the fandom.
