will not be pushed back. This is due to the series' showrunner and executive producer, Jon Favreau, writing the scripts for season 2 in July of 2019 and production for the new season starting very early, right after season 1's wildly successful debut.

Production on season 2 wrapped right before shutdowns and stay-at-home orders were initiated in early March. Since the shutdowns were implemented, the crew has been working remotely to finish post-production. Animation supervisor Hal Hickel has even stated that, despite working remotely, fans can still expect to see the return of sweet Baby Yoda and plenty of exciting visual effects. The latter has even ended up blowing away the show's crew.

According to Star Wars' official website, The Mandalorian's Visual Effects Supervisor, Richard Bluff, exclaimed that the VFX for season 2 "went above and beyond anything [they] did for Season One,” adding in that “It has even left the crew open-mouthed with some of the magic tricks that [they] were able to perform with the video wall technology.” He went on to explain that the team "learned an enormous amount from Season One," and that "by the time [they] got towards the end of the show, [they] got quite comfortable with the technology and were excited to just continue to push the boundaries of what was possible."

Weapons are literally part of the Mandalorian's religion

Alongside the incredible visual effects that fans can expect to see, season 2's cast has also added some very talented new faces as well, building even more anticipation for the season. The biggest announcements so far have been for Rosario Dawson, returning to the Star Wars universe this time around as Boba Fett. In addition to these announcements, both Timothy Olyphant and Michael Biehn have also ed the cast in undisclosed roles and Katee Sackhoff has been cast as Bo-Katan.

In similar fashion to season 2's planning, season 3 of The Mandalorian is already in the works as well. It's clear that Disney has an immense amount of faith in the series and its future. Not to mention, it's evident that the show's creators are excited to explore more of this thrilling corner of the Star Wars universe, considering Jon Favreau is already working on the third season's scripts well before season 2 even premieres. Considering the Star Wars movies are on a hiatus until 2022, The Mandalorian's  seasons will be the perfect way to keep Star Wars fans occupied in the meantime. Plus, keeping in mind Bluff's praise for the show's VFX, it's sure to be a phenomenal viewing experience.
