A clever photo editor on Reddit altered the logo of the new open-world shark RPG, Maneater is more than just a gimmick and is quietly establishing itself as one of this summer's sleeper hits.

Maneater puts players in the role of a bull shark on a quest to avenge the death of its mother at the hands of a sadistic fisherman, growing from a baby shark into a full-sized apex predator, capable to capsizing boats and eating hundreds of puny humans. The game's logo shows off everything they need to know about the game: it's the title of the game and a pair of shark jaws devouring the word "eater," but it could be a bit better, and a clever Reddit has done exactly that.

Reddit LSDesign posted a photoshop of the game's logo, and it features such a tiny change that vastly improves the image. The original logo features the shark jaws about to chomp down on the word "eater," but the simple change mirrors the jaws, having them bite down on the word "man," instead. It's a tiny change, but it completely changes the message of the game and more clearly articulates the core goal of Maneater: eating men! And women, and turtles, and license plates, and pretty much everything else.

Maneater Logo Fix

With photoshop and online tutorials, anybody can hone their skills and become a graphic designer. Thanks to Reddit and other social media sites, artists can show off their skills and create magnificent works of art. In the case of this Maneater edit, it's a testament to how a small, nigh-imperceptible change can completely change the meaning of an image.

As a video game, Maneater aims to be nothing more than a jolly experience. With a short runtime and a simple, satisfying gameplay loop, the game hits fast and hard and the credits roll before the experience has a chance to become stagnant. Plus, the RPG mechanics and in-depth customization options ensure players always have something to work towards, the agency in their actions, and a degree of replay value. As Maneater proves, it's the simple things in life that bring the most joy; may the thrill of controlling a renegade shark as it eats everything in its way never grow old.
