Though some fared better than others in profitability or reception, Robbie's reputable projects include the award-winning drama I, Tonya, the film adaptation of the classic children's book Peter Rabbit, and DC's blockbuster, The Suicide Squad. Because she participated in so many big movies, it's astonishing that the 2016 flop The Legend of Tarzan remains one of the highest-earning films in Robbie's catalog. Even though the movie garnered terrible reception and failed to make much of a profit, The Legend of Tarzan outpaced nearly all of Robbie's most notable films.

Against an estimated $180 million budget, The Legend of Tarzan scraped up $126.6 million domestically and $348.9 million worldwide (via The Numbers). The Legend of Tarzan's final numbers weren't favorable for the movie itself, but they turned out to be record breaking for Robbie. According to The Numbers, The Legend of Tarzan is Robbie's fourth highest-grossing movie domestically and her fifth highest-grossing movie worldwide.

Will Margot Robbie Ever Beat Her Own Barbie Box Office Record?

Despite being in her top five biggest movies at the box office, The Legend of Tarzan's total gross trails far behind the total gross of Barbie. Even Robbie's second highest-grossing film, Suicide Squad (2016) at $745.4 worldwide, has a hard time keeping up with Barbie's profitability. Because Barbie has a high box office title and is the actress' only billion dollar movie, it may take quite a long time, if ever, for Robbie to beat her own billion dollar box office record.

However, in Barbie and in The Legend of Tarzan, the actress was able to secure considerable records, so it would be reckless to assume that Robbie couldn't execute another record-breaking achievement sometime in the future. Nonetheless, even if Robbie does beat $1.44 billion in the span of her career, Barbie will assuredly remain at the top of her biggest movies. The upward trajectory of Robbie's career promises continued success for the actress, which means The Legend of Tarzan may not be able to hold the same security as the Barbie movie.
