Super Mario Party Jamboree is set to be the best Mario Party game on the Nintendo Switch, and potentially even the best Mario Party game of all time. Naturally, this is more than enough reason to pick it up, especially for fans of the series, but there may be some players who've either been burned in the past or need a good reason to pick up yet another Mario Party game. Luckily, there's one very good reason to pick up Jamboree specifically, especially for those who have found previous Mario Party games frustrating.
Super Mario Party Jamboree reviews have labeled it a masterpiece - at least when it comes to party games - and have touted its slew of new mechanics as being absolutely game-changing. Luckily, this means that many of the issues with past Mario Party games have largely been squashed, allowing everyone to enjoy it. One of the biggest issues addressed in Super Mario Party Jamboree is how matches are often luck-based, something that has been a point of contention for Mario Party fans for many, many years.
Luck Mechanics Have Been A Sore Point For Mario Party Fans
Losing Because Of An Unknown Bonus Star Hurts
Mario Party games are largely about strategy, with players forced to think about the best routes to take to get to the star while weighing up whether to extend their journey so they can buy a golden pipe, or aim to land on a Chance Time Space and risk it all to potentially nab their opponent's stars. However, even the best laid plans of mole and plumber often go awry, and players can lose it all to a rogue bonus star they never knew was coming, or worse, a deadly Bowser Space. It can be incredibly frustrating and even, at times, suck all the fun out of a game.

Super Mario Party Didn't Feel Like A True Mario Party
Super Mario Party does not live up to its name. Although it is a able party game, it lacks what made previous Mario Party games excellent.
However, this is how it's always been, as luck has played a big role in every match from the first game all the way until the Nintendo Switch Mario Party games. It's something fans have had to contend with for a while, reluctantly losing out to their friends despite playing the best simply because they didn't move the furthest or arbitrarily had the worst allies in Super Mario Party on the Switch. This has led to Mario Party becoming a bit of a frustrating and, at times, friendship-breaking experience, which is surely not Nintendo's aim.
This has led to Mario Party becoming a bit of a frustrating and, at times, friendship-breaking experience, which is surely not Nintendo's aim.
Of course, Super Mario Party Jamboree has the opportunity to come in and fix it all, making it not only a fairer experience, but also one that doesn't see parents screaming at their kids or vice versa. Stricter rules that remove luck entirely ensure that partners can lose on purpose to make their significant other feel better, or parents stomp their kids to teach them that life isn't fair. Luckily, Super Mario Party Jamboree does just that with its brand-new Pro Rules.
Mario Party Jamboree Has A Fix
The Pro Roles Are A Game-Changer
Super Mario Party Jamboree has introduced one important fix to remove all the frustrating luck-based elements from the main board game mode: Pro Rules. This is a stricter set of rules that completely changes the game, ensuring that players know in advance what the bonus star will be, what the Bowser Space will do, and so much more. Examples of the Pro Rules include:
- Each game is fixed at 12 turns.
- There is only one bonus star and its requirement is announced at the start - the bonus star will be either Sightseer Bonus, Eventful Bonus, or Slowpoke Bonus.
- Removes Chance Time Spaces.
- Players who land on Lucky Spaces choose either to get a double dice or 10 coins.
- Players who land on Unlucky Spaces give seven coins to the last place player - the last place player will give seven coins to the 3rd place player.
- Bowser Spaces will only remove 1 star.
- Boo steals 15 coins every time.
- Hidden Blocks are removed.
- The next location of the star will be indicated.
- Each player gets to pick one of eight items at the start of a match.
- Every shop only has two of each item, and once it runs out, it's gone.
- Mini-games are chosen from player votes.
While the Mario Party games have had awful changes in the past, the Pro Rules are a huge bonus for those who hate the more luck-based aspects of Mario Party, as they essentially guarantee that everything will play out a certain way. Of course, for those who still enjoy the luck-based gameplay, the original rules are still available and are the default option. However, the Pro Rules do make things fair across the board, as everyone has an equal chance to win, won't get unfairly punished for simply landing on the wrong space, and will know in advance of the risks that they are taking.

Mario Party 3 Had The Series’ Worst Mechanic
Game Guy brought a new kind of minigame to Mario Party 3, but this turned out to be the most unnecessarily frustrating addition to any Mario Party.
The inclusion of Pro Rules in Super Mario Party Jamboree definitely makes it worth playing for those who were slightly more on the fence. It's a wonderful inclusion, one that makes the many new boards in Super Mario Party Jamboree significantly more fun and ensures that no friendships will be needlessly broken. The Pro Rules are a meaningful fix that genuinely remove one of the biggest issues of Mario Party games, and make Super Mario Party Jamboree a must-play for hardcore fans, newcomers, and those who were wary of returning.
