Brett and Olivia of Married at First Sight season 11 are just one example of the ways that Covid-19 can affect couples —especially newlyweds. This season is different from every other because the couples were stuck in their apartments under the stay-at-home-order due to the virus and really got to know each other fairly quickly. These two were going strong until the weeks went by and they had many disagreements. The verdict isn't out yet if they've decided to get a divorce or stay married, but viewers will see at the end of the month what they've chosen to do.
Ten contestants are matched up by three relationship experts and meet each other They skip the relationship, getting to know each other, and getting engaged, and go straight to getting legally married. Yes, LEGALLY married. Right after they say, "I do," they move into an apartment with each other for eight weeks to test out their new normal. This season was a little different since they were quarantined and couldn't go out on dates or go on vacations to really get to know each other, and that was detrimental to some.
When it came to Brett and Olivia, they were going strong until the relationship homework they were assigned ended and they had nothing else to work on together. The New York Post reported that the couple was constantly surrounded by COVID-19 talk since Olivia was working as a nurse, while Brett was working from home and watching the news when Olivia got off her shift. This was the beginning of their rift. Stress was at an all-time high when Olivia was talking about going to see her family and Brett didn't want her to since it was still a dangerous time to travel in the U.S. This is when viewers see Brett pack up his things and move out of the apartment and leave Olivia with an empty surprise when she got back from her travels to see her family.
While viewers were left with a cliffhanger, it's uncertain whether or not the two have decided to get a divorce. In the interview done by the Post, Olivia explained, “I would have appreciated not having a pandemic, but going through something traumatic and stressful and life-changing really helped us grow during our marriage. I’d rather know how Brett reacts to trauma.” Well, she really saw the real him when they didn't agree on something or if things didn't go his way.
The rest of Marriage at First Sight season 11 is supposed to pick back up after October 7 and the finale will be on October 29 at 8 p.m. EST on Lifetime with all the answers as to who ends up still married when all is said and done.
