Over the years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has provided fans with some of the best onscreen adaptions of comic book costumes, with many characters like Captain America and Iron Man receiving a new suit with every appearance. However, several characters in the MCU are in obvious need of new costumes, whether it be because they've been using the same outfit for several movies or because it's simply time for a change.
After Avengers: Endgame, the new phase of the MCU should provide some of these characters with new designs that reflect their growth and changes throughout the films. So here are 10 MCU heroes who desperately need a costume upgrade.
Shuri
Although she often does her best work from behind-the-scenes in her lab, Shuri is a skilled fighter and played a huge role in the conflicts that happened in both Black Panther and Avengers: Endgame with her weapon of choice being a pair of panther-shaped arm gauntlets that emit blasts of sonic energy. The clothing that Shuri wears during both of these battles has nothing to really distinguish them from regular Wakandan outfits.
It would be interesting to see her make and wear a Black Panther suit of her own since she has held the title herself in the comics. Some versions of concept art for the character even had her wearing her own helmetless version of her brother's suit so it wouldn't be surprising to see her get one in the sequel.
Hulk
Hulk never really had a costume in the MCU, with the character usually just wearing whatever pair of pants he had on the moment he transformed. The closest Hulk got to an actual uniform was the purple outfit he wore in Endgame. Since it seems like the Hulk will continue to play a role in the future of the MCU, now would be the perfect time for him to receive a proper uniform, especially since he's a bit weaker on of his right arm being damaged from the snap.
It should be something that covers him without downplaying or undermining the character's natural strength. A great compromise would be something like the armor Bruce Banner wears in the comics when he goes to work for S.H.I.E.L.D.
Falcon
At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Sam Wilson receives the shield and mantle of Captain America from Steve Rogers in a touching scene that perfectly symbolizes the MCU's change in direction.
The poster for the by the end of the series they will see him finally wearing the stars and stripes, fully accepting his new role as the face of the country.
Gamora
Considering Gamora is a warrior, it always felt strange that her costume in the MCU never really reflected it. In the comics, she has white, black, and red battle armor made by a dwarf on Nidavellir, the same realm that Thor, Groot, and Rocket travel to in Infinity War to have Stormbreaker made.
Although it would have been great to see her wear this in the fight against Thanos, since there's a new version of Gamora running around, the Guardians of the Galaxy movie seems like the perfect place to debut a uniform fit for the character who holds the title of "most dangerous woman in the universe."
Black Panther
Black Panther's suit is arguably one of the best-designed in the MCU, with a series of various abilities fit for a king. But while his current suit works and looks perfectly fine, in the words of Shuri, "just because something works doesn't mean it can't be improved."
Although the updated suit received in his solo outing has incredible features like the ability to shrink into a necklace and to redistribute kinetic energy, there are a lot of classic suit abilities that audiences have yet to see. They include the ability to render the wearer invisible and teleportation.
Wasp
While many fans were excited to finally see Evangeline Lilly's Hope Van Dyne suit up in Ant-Man and the Wasp, just as many were disappointed that she wouldn't be wearing her black and yellow iconic suit from the comics. In the MCU, Hope's suit features a more blue and silver color palette.
However, it is likely that fans could see that classic version in Ant-Man 3. Each new film has given Scott an upgraded variation of the Ant-Man suit, it will likely be the same case for Hope. While the silhouette of the suit is great, it would be great to see it be a little more comic accurate in a future installment.
Bucky Barnes
Despite appearing in six MCU films, Bucky Barnes is one of the few characters who doesn't feel like they have a specific style or look. The last time the character wore anything that felt like an actual uniform was during his time as the Winter Soldier and since that was when he was acting as an assassin for Hydra, he won't be returning to that design anytime soon.
The suit that will be featured in Falcon and the Winter Soldier seems like it will be similar to what he wore in Captain America: The First Avenger and looks like it will be a good way to represent the change the character has gone through over the course of the films.
Scarlet Witch
While many characters are constantly changing their uniforms, Wanda Maximoff is one of the only ones that has worn the same uniform since getting a series on Disney+, which is said to focus on how she earns the name Scarlet Witch, and the fact that she will have a pretty sizable role in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it would be great if she received a new outfit in one of those projects.
It would be an added bonus if we could possibly have her getting her iconic tiara that fans have been begging for since her introduction in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Thor
Considering the possibility that Thor movie.
There are many alternate looks from the comics that the films can pull from but the best option may be the "King Thor" look. Despite Thor not being a king in the MCU since he handed that responsibility over to Valkyrie before boarding a ship with the Guardians, it would be awesome to see him in this outfit mostly because of how big of a departure it is from anything seen before.
Iron Fist
Daredevil is the only one whose costume was done properly on the TV side of the MCU. While characters like Luke Cage and Jessica Jones don't really have costumes, Iron Fist is one that definitely does. The closest fans got was the gi he wore during the training scenes that took place in K'un-Lun.
For the majority of the second season, he mostly wore a green hoodie with a yellow mask that covered the lower portion of his face. It is entirely possible that he would have gotten the iconic comic book costume had the show's third season not been canceled. Hopefully, if he ever returns, he can get a more accurate costume to really tie everything together.
