Doctor Strange-themed Marvel Contest of Champions update launched around the time of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness this April
Screen Rant can reveal that Marvel Contest of Champions is getting two powerful new combatants from the silver screen in its V37.0 update which releases November 7th. Princess Shuri, the younger sister of Black Panther and the genius behind much of the weaponry used by the powerful African nation of Wakanda, will be introduced to Marvel’s Contest of Champions later today. She isn’t alone, as Attuma, the stalwart protector of the underwater city of Talokan, will also arrive to defend his people from threats by the surface world. A YouTube trailer for Marvel Contest of Champions' new "Sea of Troubles" event has also been released.
Marvel Contest Of Champions’ V37.0 Update Ties Into Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
On top of a new playable villain and hero, Marvel Contest of Champions' new update will also introduce a new event. A new monthlong event titled “Eternity of Pain - Depression” is starting today for players who have become a Thronebreaker or higher. Each week, a new fight will be featured, with the final battle consisting of all four previous opponents. Each week’s event will also include Solo Objectives to further increase the challenge as players struggle against their inner demons.
Today’s new Marvel Contest of Champions content seems to be based on characters and themes from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Wakanda's heroes are also set to appear in a number of titles, including a WW2-set Marvel game co-starring Captain America.
Marvel Contest of Champions players can jump into the worlds of Wakanda and Talokan and take down opponents as Shuri and Attuma starting November 7th. These new playable characters can be put to the test in the “Eternity of Pain - Depression” event which will continue in Marvel Contest of Champions all month long after it launches. Sea Of Troubles:
- The plague of Galactus continues to consume The Battlerealm! The hungry eyes of the World Eaters have turned to Wakanda. Shuri has requested the aid of the Summoner in an important diplomatic task. They will need to convince Namor to open his gates to the woes of Wakanda, but the deadly Attuma may have other plans for these new arrivals. It’s up to the Summoner and Shuri to save both their homes from becoming lost in a SEA OF TROUBLES!
Shuri and Attuma Enter the Contest
- Princess of Wakanda and head of the Wakandan Design Group, Shuri’s genius and ingenuity has been the driving force behind much of Wakanda’s modern technical superiority. Not one for getting hung up on tradition or ceremony, Shuri is constantly pushing the limits of vibranium technology and was the mind behind the advanced suits used by her brother T’Challa, the Black Panther.
- Attuma is a stalwart protector of Talokan, aiding king Namor in protecting its people from threats below and above. Attuma is proud and strong, with a knack for grasping opportunity, and the iron will to never fully surrender, even when his plans go awry. Now, with Talokan under threat from surface dwellers, Attuma will resort to any means necessary to defend his people and culture, even if those he s do not agree with his methods.
Eternity of Pain - Depression:
- Pain is eternal, and soon a special set of challenges will be made available to those who have become a Thronebreaker and higher! Each week, for 4 weeks, a new fight will be featured and the previous week’s fight will be removed. The 5th week will result in the culmination of your grief and DEPRESSION, where you will be tasked with dealing with all 4 of the previous fights in one painful path! Each week's fights will also be accompanied by Solo Objectives that will further increase the pain and difficulty.
