Marvel Studios officially confirms who will star in their Phase 4 movie Avengers: Endgame started to emerge last year, one of the surprising inclusions was Eternals. In the comics, The Eternals are a group of incredibly powered humans created by Celestials and were created by Jack Kirby. The reason for the surprise over their introduction in the MCU was a result of how little-known the property and the characters are.

That is sure to change now that Eternals will be one of the first films to come out in Phase 4 of the MCU. Marvel hired Chloe Zhao to direct the movie last year, but everything else about the project has been relatively quiet. This is changing now that the movie is confirmed, and that includes Marvel announcing who will star after months of rumors.

During their Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios confirmed the impressive cast list for Eternals, along with the film's 2020 release date. The cast list includes those previously linked to the project and some new surprises: Salma Hayek as the team's leader Ajax, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Don Lee as Gigamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Lia McHugh as Sprite, and Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo.

The announcement by Marvel Studios confirms previously reported castings of Hayek, Madden, Jolie, Lee, and Nanjiani. However, the surprises are Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, and Lia McHugh, who were all not previously linked to Eternals. Henry is best known for his role in The Walking Dead and will be the first deaf character in the MCU. McHugh is a relative newcomer, but has a role in this year's horror film The Lodge.

With these confirmations, what some may be surprised by is what also wasn't confirmed. There were previous rumors that Keanu Reeves and Millie Bobby Brown were being sought after for roles in Eternals, but that is not the case - at least right now. It was also previously believed that Jolie would play the character known as Sersi, but that is also not true. If Sersi is in the movie, it appears she will be played by someone else. The confirmation of all of this news for Eternals is just a piece of what Marvel Studios announced tonight at San Diego Comic-Con, so check out the rest of Screen Rant's coverage to catch up on all the news.
