You might know her from the comics or the neo-noir Netflix show starring Krysten Ritter. Jessica Jones is a Marvel superheroine whose origin is fairly recent. A detective from New York, Jones's skills and abilities include superhuman strength, hand-to-hand combat and even flight. Over the years, she has ed the mainstream Marvel universe too, associating with teams like New Avengers and The Defenders. While most other superheroes like her, some are put off by her bluntness and her unconventional working methods.

Love: Luke Cage

Luke Cage and Jessica Jones in one of The Defenders comics

Jones and Cage are one of the most steady couples in Marvel. Just like Jones, Luke Cage is another superhuman from New York (although he relies more on his brawn than the brain). They met each other while solving cases around the Italian crime families of the city. Cage was immediately drawn to her for her ion for fighting crime.

One thing led to another and the two engaged in drunk hook-ups. Eventually, they raised a daughter and got married. In the Netflix series, we see this two hooking-up but unfortunately, we didn't see them take things forward. Luke Cage in his own series, engaged in many other flings instead.

Despise: Iron Man

Iron Man - Tony Stark (comics)

Iron Man had offered Jones and Cage an offer to his faction against Captain America and accept the Superhuman Registration Act during the iconic Civil War storyline. Jones rejected Iron Man's offer to his dismay and defies the new law.

Instead, she travels to Canada to ensure her daughter Danielle's safety. Meanwhile, Cage s Captain America's Secret Avengers in New York, making it clear that the husband-wife duo stands on the Captain's side. Later on in another story, Iron Man and Vision also engaged in combat with Jessica Jones, severely injuring her.

Love: Spider-Man

Spider-Man swinging through New York

Jones knows Spider-Man right from her high school days, as she used to be Peter  Parker's classmate. She even worked at the Daily Bugle for some time, the same newspaper where J Jonah Jameson used to bark orders at Parker. Spider-Man does it that he didn't exactly get a good vibe from her back in school but respects her as an Avenger now, and how she maintains her family with superhero-ing.

The two were also close as they stood alongside Captain America in Civil War. The bond between the two is such that when Luke Cage was possessed by a demon in a New Avengers storyline, she left her baby to Spider-Man's care.

Despise: Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch using her chaos magic in Marvel Comics

Scarlet Witch alternatively functions as a hero for the Avengers and as an anti-hero (in X-Men storylines at times). But the reason for her enmity with Jessica Jones was out of self-defense in one of her earliest story arcs. Purple Man aka Kilgrave, an arch-nemesis of Jones, once controlled her mind and ordered her to kill Daredevil.

Instead of targeting the red-costumed 'horned devil', she went on to attack anyone she sees in red. And Scarlet Witch's whole appearance is the epitome of red, so it's natural that Jones charged at her instantly causing Scarlet Witch to revert back with her mystical powers. Eventually, the other Avengers in and free Jones of her mind control.

Love: Daredevil

Daredevil and Jessica Jones

Another vigilante from New York like Jones and her husband, Daredevil aka Matt Murdock is a man of ethics who stands by his Catholic ideals of justice. Daredevil holds her in great esteem and both have shared a friendship of mutual benefits. Jessica Jones' Alias private detective agency had once worked for Murdock. Murdock, on the other hand, had once represented her in a case as her lawyer.

He and Jones have been the co-founders of The Defenders and had ed forces to fight The Hand from taking over New York in the Netflix series of the same name.

Despise: Victoria Hand

Victoria Hand from Agents of SHIELD and Comics

Victoria Hand has had many roles. She was once an ant for S.H.I.E.L.D ( as seen in the show Agents of SHIELD), then became Norman Osborn's (the Green Goblin) second-in-command, and also served as the Deputy Director for the weapon company H.A.M.M.E.R. Even though the latter two organizations have often been evil, Hand is depicted as a misguided person who believes in restoring peace.

It is for this reason that Captain America inducted her in his New Avengers initiative. She sees this as a second chance to life but Avengers like Jessica Jones highly distrust her, thinking that she can easily switch sides. While we don't see Victoria's hate in a straightforward manner, she does feel threatened by Jones because of her attitude.

Love: Ant-Man

Scott Lang on the cover of Ant-Man #1 2015 comic

Scott Lang, the new Ant-Man, and Jessica Jones had dated for a while owing to their closeness. He had got in touch with Jones as they ed a reincarnation of Heroes For Hire, a superhero firm that was originally established by Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

After the group ceased to exist, Ant-Man and Jones started being together. However, their relationship was cut short when Jessica revealed that she was pregnant with her then-ex-boyfriend Luke Cage's child. Lang parted ways but has been an ally to her.

Despise: Toxic Doxie

toxic doxie Cropped

Toxic Doxie is an anti-heroine appearing mainly as a member of the Dark Avengers, an alliance of reformed supervillains (or just villains posing as heroes) under the leadership of Norman Osborn. Her powers include genetic manipulation and energy blast.

She naturally began to despise Jessica Jones for her antagonism towards Osborn. It's hard to see the Green Goblin as a changed man after all! She and the Dark Avengers are eventually defeated by Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. Doxie is then made to the government-sponsored Thunderbolts team, which sends villains on dangerous missions (much like Marvel's version of Suicide Squad).

Love: Captain America

Captain America Comic Swearing Art

Captain America has been a loyal friend to Jessica Jones, especially during the Civil War and Secret Wars comic arcs where she ed his ideologies and fought Iron Man's faction. Captain America made her a part of Secret Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D in a What If story.

In the What If possibility, Captain America also helps her in going back in time to undo her bitter relationship with the Avengers (when she attacked Scarlet Witch). She undoes several disastrous events from the House of M storyline too. In the end, he even ended up marrying Jessica Jones!

Despise: Ms. Marvel

Short-haired Carol Danvers against a backdrop of her logo, from Marvel Comics.

Captain Marvel aka Carol Danvers is one of Jessica Jones's allies but initially, she did despise her. The reason is Marvel's own alliance with Iron Man during Civil War as she expected Jones to stand for the Superhuman Registration Act.

But as was mentioned before, Jones took Captain America's side compelling Danvers to fight her. But the enmity doesn't last long. In fact, Danvers was also one of Jones' earliest superhero friends and even set her up with Scott Lang.
