The synopsis for Marvel Knights: The World To Come reads as follows:

The King of Wakanda is DEAD, leaving unguarded the world’s most advanced technology, most precious metal, and a cryptic vault of dark secrets while triggering global conflicts among Marvel's heroes, villains and mutants. With T'Challa gone and the future of the Marvel Universe teetering on a vibranium knife edge, a tribal challenge ensues for the Wakandan throne and its mysterious victor will emerge as the new leader of Wakanda and usher in THE WORLD TO COME.

In addition to this summary, Marvel has shared preview pages for this series' first issue, featuring stunning art by Quesada that depicts Black Panther alongside this updated status quo for Wakanda in the franchise's future. The world seems to have fallen into a state of disarray over the years, and T'Challa's absence causes a myriad of problems for both his kingdom and the Marvel Universe as a whole. The new Black Panther will be the key to the future, and though details are limited about their identity, Quesada's art portrays a perfect successor to the mantle.

The Marvel Knights imprint was first created in 1998, with Joe Quesada working alongside other skilled writers and artists to forge an ambitious new direction for the franchise's lesser-known heroes. Christopher Priest previously tackled Black Panther under this imprint in a hit 1998 series alongside artist Mark Texeira and Quesada himself, and he's now reuniting with Quesada to revisit their take on the character's mythos - albeit in a dark fashion, as T'Challa is killed and replaced with a new Black Panther who will move Wakanda forward. With these two creatives collaborating, The World To Come is sure to be a worthwhile revival for Marvel Knights.
