Though they have minimal history together, initial details for the arc tease that Gwen is in possession of a powerful artifact that Loki wants to get his hands on, and this mysterious object will lead them through Marvel’s cosmos in their team-up. Spider-Gwen is Finally ing Marvel's Main 616 Universe For Good
The series Spider-Gwen: The Ghost Spider will see the heroic Gwen Stacy of Earth-65 become a permanent resident of Marvel's Earth-616.
Loki was last seen in Marvel’s Venom War crossover event, and will now be paired with another symbiote-powered hero in his next outing with the Ghost Spider. Writer Stephanie Phillips stated in Marvel’s announcement of their next arc that a Gwen and Loki story has been on the wish list since work began on Spider-Gwen: The Ghost Spider, stating:
I envisioned a Gwen and Loki storyline from the beginning of my work on Gwen, so this arc feels like the culmination of everything we’ve been building toward.
Now, that vision comes to fruition as they embark on their cosmic quest. Since Loki is known to toe the line between villain and anti-hero, it will be interesting to witness how his relationship with Gwen Stacy unfolds.
