Netflix's former Marvel shows like first official MCU show, Marvel TV previously made multiple live-action shows for Netflix that took a street-level approach and more adult tone to superheroes. While these shows were quite successful, they were all suddenly canceled starting in 2018.

All of Netflix's Marvel shows have remained on the streaming service exclusively over the last several years, but it was recently revealed that this would change. Fans noticed that DaredevilJessica Jones, and other Marvel shows were set to leave Netflix at the end of February. This raised questions about what would happen to the shows in the future, especially since many saw renewed interest after Charlie Cox's Daredevil return in Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin return in Hawkeye. Speculation turned to Disney+ or Hulu being the most likely landing spots for the Marvel Netflix shows.

Now, Disney has officially confirmed that all seasons of the Marvel Netflix shows are releasing on Disney+ on March 16, 2022. The official press release for Disney+'s March titles listed DaredevilJessica JonesThe Punisher as new arrivals. This means Netflix's Marvel shows will begin streaming on Disney+ just two weeks after they leave Netflix. It is worth noting that the press release came from Disney+ Canada, where STAR is part of the streaming service for titles that could otherwise go to Hulu in the United States. Whether or not the Netflix Marvel shows will release on Disney+ domestically is still unconfirmed, but Screen Rant has reached out to Disney for clarification.

Daredevil and Marvel Defenders on Netflix

Ever since it was revealed that the rights to Netflix's Marvel shows were reverting to Disney, the possibility of the shows landing on Disney+ has become a big question. Disney's streaming service is squarely positioned as a family-friendly service and doesn't include any adult-leaning content. However, the Netflix Marvel shows include higher levels of violence and nudity that Disney+ has so far not allowed. The use of Disney+ STAR has been the workaround internationally, but the Mouse House has yet to find a way to give adult content, like Daredevil and the other Marvel Netflix shows, to Disney+ subscribers.

While it is not yet clear if Daredevil and the other Marvel Netflix shows are going to Disney+ domestically, the likelihood of them streaming there or on Hulu will give fans around the world a new place to watch the beloved shows. Questions have persisted about whether or not Disney could edit the shows to tone down scenes deemed too violent or sexual, with even Luke Cage's showrunner expressing concerns about censorship. So far, there is no evidence to suggest Disney will change the content of the shows compared to how they were on Netflix. In any case, fans of Daredevil and the other former Netflix Marvel shows will only be without them for a few weeks before they get their new home.
