In a wild update to the One Above All may not be able to stop. In Marvel lore, there are several tiers of cosmic being, from minor gods who preside over singular nations or worlds, to universal abstracts who embody core elements of reality, to Elder Gods who stride across the multiverse itself. Now, one of the most ferocious cosmic beings to ever exist is ready to make a devastating return.
The first storm god was so powerful, he was able to literally forge the embodiment of Death into a club and turn the Phoenix Force into his armor.
In a preview of Storm #8 - by Murewa Ayodele, Lucas Werneck, Mario Santoro, Alex Guimarães and Travis Lanham - fans learn the backstory of Hadad. Before Zeus or Thor, Hadad was the very first storm god, embodying the raw power of this concept on its most primal level. Thor explains that Hadad was so powerful, he was able to defeat Marvel's cosmic pantheon and turn them into his personal weapons, literally forging the embodiment of Death into a club and turning the Phoenix Force into his armor.
Hadad was only stopped when the One Above All - Marvel's greatest cosmic force and the creator of all reality - had to descend from the heavens to stop him, binding him away where he could no longer damage reality. Now, Hadad is on his way back, kicking off a civil war between the gods.
Until now, this level of power was reserved for the One Above All and the Infinity Gauntlet.
Marvel fans haven't seen such a powerful character since the One Above All was introduced in 2004's Fantastic Four #511.

30 Most Powerful Marvel Comics Characters Right Now (Ranked Weakest to Strongest)
Here are the 30 gods, mutants, sorcerers and robots that currently hold the top spot when it comes to power in the Marvel Universe.
Marvel's First Storm God Hadad Is Unbelievably Powerful
Storm Is Operating at the Highest Echelon of Marvel's Cosmic Power
In recent comics, X-Men's Storm has been chosen as the new herald of Eternity - a cosmic god who embodies the entirety of Marvel's Earth-616 reality. In this role, she's been rubbing shoulders with the gods, and was recently attacked by thunder gods Chaac, Shango, Susanoo and Mamaragan. It turns out that after a billion years, Hadad is ready to return, and several of Marvel's lesser storm gods want to be on his good side when it happens, working to facilitate the Elder God's reign of terror.
In Marvel lore, it doesn't get more powerful than the Universal Constants, especially when they work together. The idea of anyone defeating Eternity, Infinity, Death and the Phoenix Force is almost unheard of, and until now this level of power was reserved for the One Above All and the Infinity Gauntlet. However, as fans have been seeing over in Immortal Thor, the first gods of the universe were far more powerful, embodying core aspects of reality in ways that make them the gods of the gods.
As Marvel's oldest storm god returns, Storm is on the front lines of the battle to prevent Hadad's terrifying second coming, and the entire universe hangs in the balance. Because while the One Above All was able to banish Hadad once, the villain is now back after billions of years of Marvel lore, even more powerful than ever before.
Storm #8 is coming May 7 from Marvel Comics.
