The Infinity Saga is one of Marvel's crowning achievements in both comics and movies - but a new war is hitting the Marvel Universe. From the comics to the first MCU climax, fans everywhere know about the Infinity Stones, the Infinity Gauntlet, and the Mad Titan Thanos. But now, Marvel is setting the stage for a new war in its main comic continuity, and it's going to make the Infinity Saga look like a piece of cake for the Avengers.

Thanks to the events of Blood Hunt, Doctor Doom is Marvel's newest Sorcerer Supreme, and he plans to rule the world in the new event One World Under Doom. In multiple tie-in issues across many Marvel titles, Doom will be imposing his will on heroes like the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and others, including in Fantastic Four #29 by event architect Ryan North and artist Cory Smith.

The impossible has happened! DOCTOR DOOM has taken over the world! And the Fantastic Four are NOT going to let that stand. As Reed locks himself in his lab, trying to solve the Problem of Doom, Ben treats Sue to a trip to NYC with their mutual friend, JEN "SHE-HULK" WALTERS, to help get her mind off of things. But tensions after vampires overran the world in their Blood Hunt remain, and when Ben, Sue and Jen find themselves on the wrong side of mob justice, they face a choice... and it's one they will not be able to take back!

Unlike the Infinity Saga, however, the heroes are still fractured after the vampiric outbreak, while Doom's grip on the world remains iron-tight. This time, however, it's not just the Fantastic Four against Doctor Doom like in the rest of Marvel history - but the entire world.

Doctor Doom Threatens the Marvel Universe with a War Bigger than Thanos'

One World Under Doom #1 Main Cover by Ben Harvey

One World Under Doom #1 cover, Marvel's Avengers and Fantastic Four kneel in front of Doctor Doom, who uses magic.

One World Under Doom is Marvel's next big event. It's already changing the face of the planet, in addition to the faces of some heroes who have sided with Doom, who are donning his iconic mask and green colors. From his debut as a Fantastic Four villain in 1962's The Fantastic Four #5 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Doctor Doom has well outgrown his original foes. Leaving the Fantastic Four far behind, he's become one of the greatest villains in Marvel's history, even suring Thanos.

The Fantastic Four are going to need all the help they can get to fight Doom.

Thanos needed the Infinity Stones to wreak havoc. Doom, on the other hand, is Marvel's smartest villain, and just when the heroes of the world were at their most desperate during the events of the eternal night of Blood Hunt, Doctor Doom made a deal with Doctor Strange, becoming the next Sorcerer Supreme. His new powers allow him to enact his plan, which as been in the works for a long time - total domination of the world with Doom as sole dictator. The Fantastic Four are going to need all the help they can get to fight him.

Doctor Doom Rules the Marvel Universe as the Sorcerer Supreme

Fantastic Four #29 Variant Cover by Erik M. Gist

Fantastic Four 29 Cover Variant with Fantastic Four Getting Sucked into Doctor Doom's Magic Energy

Doctor Doom isn't just the smartest Marvel villain. He's also proven that he can beat Superman, something Thanos has never done. In the Infinity Saga, the Avengers had to fight off-world to save the universe, but in One World Under Doom, Earth itself is at stake, making this war much less idealistic and much more personal. Startling, too, is the fact that Reed Richards' scientific knowledge will be no use against Doom's sorcery. Doom has finally evolved past his petty battles with the Fantastic Four and even evolved past the need for science: he's a god now.

In One World Under Doom, Marvel's broken heroes are getting their next big war, and it's shaping up to be bigger than the Infinity Saga. Compared to Doom, Thanos was a petty villain with small goals. Doctor Doom has become a god with his magical powers, his intelligence, and his ambition, and it's going to take all of Marvel's heroes to stop him.
