Marvel's New Thunderbolts Just Proved The MCU Team Could Be Avengers-Level Gamechangers
The Thunderbolts are gearing up to make their official MCU debut, and Marvel Comics teases that they could experience an Avengers-level evolution!
Writers Kelly and Lanzing clarified that this limited series will feature characters and storylines dating back to Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty, and seems to directly spin out of their four-issue Thunderbolts (2024). Along with the Winter Soldier, that version saw that are confirmed to return, including Black Widow, Sharon Carter, U.S. Agent, and more; Bucky’s roster will include another fan-favorite member from the original Thunderbolts, Songbird, known for being redeemed as a hero during her tenure on the team. It seems that any past member is an option to the fight for or against Doom’s Thunderbolts.

Get More Doom & More Thunderbolts Before They Hit The Screen
Since the new Thunderbolts adventure heavily revolves around one of the Fantastic Four’s main villains, the comic crossover tie-in functions as a neat combination of the MCU’s offerings in summer 2025. Before Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps hit theaters, Marvel Comics’ One World Under Doom features General Thaddeus Ross’ Red Hulk returning to the pages of Marvel Comics in the war against Doom.
As a team that was conceived to be corrupt, Bucky and his squad of mostly reformed villains turned heroes will try to take down Doom’s system. Described by the limited series’ writers as “Marvel’s meanest, messiest superteam”, it’s bound to be action-packed as the Thunderbolts battle against each other, with promised surprise appearances from various former along the way. With many of the original villainous Thunderbolts assembling under Doctor Doom’s rule to take down Bucky Barnes and his team, it’s going to be an all-out war with the team’s heavy hitters not pulling any punches.
