With 33 different characters in Marvel Rivals and three separate roles between them, it can be hard to determine what team comps will be the most successful. With no role queue in the game, your team has to determine how many characters of different archetypes you want to use. This can get tricky, as some combinations of character classes are far stronger than others.

Team comps in Marvel Rivals are best classified into how many Duelists, Vanguards, and Strategists you have on a team. For example, a 2-2-2 stack has an even balance of all three character classes on the same team. While there are far more Duelists than any other character as of this time of writing, there aren't any that stand out too much individually to change what team comps work best.

Understand Which Stacks Are The Strongest

It's worth noting that rankings for team comps do not equate to an individual character's strength. While you could have a comp full of S-tier characters in Marvel Rivals, the combination of their roles may be so skewed that the team synergy suffers as a result.

S

A

  • 3 Vanguards, 0 Duelists, 3 Strategists

B

  • 2-3-1
  • 1-3-2
  • 2 Vanguards, 3 Duelists, 1 Strategist
  • 1 Vanguard, 3 Duelists, 2 Strategists

C

  • 4-1-2

F

  • 0-5-1
  • 1-1-4
  • 0 Vanguards, 5 Duelists, 1 Strategist
  • 1 Vanguard, 1 Duelist, 4 Strategists

As you can see, the strongest team comps have the most balance between each character class. Having too many Vanguards or Duelists will make it much harder for fewer Strategists to keep them alive. At the same time, picking too many Strategists will cause your team to have fewer defensive capabilities or damage dealers, making it impossible to defeat enemy heroes and villains.

The above table does not represent every possible combination of role stacks in the game, only some of the most popular ones seen online as of this time of writing.

The greatest team comps always have more than one Strategist, so that two ive characters can both keep teams alive. This role is too important for one person to handle alone, especially since they can rarely themselves when the burden is placed solely on them. With another Strategist, two characters can keep each other alive along with the rest of your team.

More Vanguards Lead to Longer Fights

The best team comp is the 3-1-2, or the collection of 3 Vanguards, 1 Duelist, and 2 Strategist characters. By having 3 Vanguards, you have access to multiple characters with high health pools, usually with self-sustaining abilities that help them survive fights longer. For example, Captain America in Marvel Rivals can sprint, giving him a way to reach health packs on the map quickly.

Meanwhile, 2 Strategists are capable of healing everyone on your team effectively, giving them room to use other ive skills. From Mantis' stun to Rocket Racoon's revival device, giving Strategists the freedom to do more than healing makes this comp strong. Ambitious teams can try to do a 3-0-3 stack and avoid Duelists entirely, but this runs into some risks.

A good sample team comp for a 3-0-3 stack would be Doctor Strange, Captain America, Peni Parker, Luna Snow, Adam Warlock, and Rocket Racoon.

You want at least 1 Duelist in your team comp because they tend to deal the highest damage out of all characters in Marvel Rivals. Only certain Duelists work in this team comp, with characters that are either mobile or self-sustaining being preferred. Some example character combinations you could use with this team comp include:

  1. Aggressive Dive Team - Venom, Captain America, Peni Parker, Spider-Man, Jeff the Land Shark, Luna Snow
  2. Defense/Control - Groot, Doctor Strange, Magneto, Moon Knight, Cloak & Dagger, Rocket Racoon
  3. Pure Survival - Hulk, Thor, Doctor Strange, Star-Lord, Mantis, Adam Warlock

Different combinations may lead to success beyond these sample teams. No matter what team you're on, you should always try to coordinate and communicate with other players to succeed, as even the strongest stacks crumble if no one is on the same page. The best team comp in Marvel Rivals does not guarantee victory if your team doesn't share the same goals.
