Yesterday, NetEase announced that they would be adding a half-season rank reset to Marvel Rivals, which fans were not happy about from the moment they heard the news. Today, less than 24 hours after the initial announcement was made, the developers have revealed that they will not be implementing the half-season rank reset after receiving "a wealth of from the community."
Dev Talk Vol. 11 was released earlier today, where NetEase States,
"A common concern was the pressure associated with having a rank reset every half-season, which has made participating in competitive mode less enjoyable. In light of the community's input, we have decided to make some changes to optimize the rank system."
The details of this change mention that the first half of Season One is still set to end on February 21, and players will still receive their rank-up rewards such as the costume and Crests of Honor. The change here is, of course, no rank reset on February 21, and players will keep their rank from the end of the first half of the season.
NetEase Takes Away Marvel Rivals Half-Season Rank Reset In Record Time
The Devs Are Listening To Fan
One of the most enticing features of Marvel Rivals is the ranked gameplay, as it gives fans a goal to work toward and climb to the top 500 players in the world. NetEase released Dev Diary Vol.10 yesterday, which mentioned rank changes were coming, and not a change that fans expected. At the halfway point of each season, players' ranks would drop by four divisions, then drop by six divisions at the start of each new season. This choice was immediately questioned by fans of the title, as they did not understand why ranks needed to drop twice per season.

Marvel Rivals Devs Reveal "Devastating News" For Ranked Play, & Fans Are Not Happy
NetEase has revealed that Marvel Rivals ranks are getting a major change moving forward, and fans cannot wrap their head around the decision.
The devs go on to state that after the uproar from the community, they will no longer be implementing this change. NetEase also states that to earn new rewards after the first half of season one concludes, players will need to complete at least 10 matches in Competitive mode and meet the "relevant conditions" before the end of Season One. These rewards include a Gold rank costume and Crests of Honor that each come with new designs based on the rank reached.
Why This Change Is Such A Win For Marvel Rivals Fans
The New Feature Was Not What Fans Had Hoped For
Climbing the ranks in Marvel Rivals is not always as straightforward as some might think, as it takes time and effort to get to Platinum and Diamond, let alone Grandmaster or above. Fans did not want their hard work to be thrashed halfway through the season, as it might have made reaching their goals a bit more tedious when dropping four ranks, then another six ranks, every few weeks. Thankfully, NetEase heard the pleas of the Marvel Rivals fanbase and responded almost instantly, which is a great thing to see in the industry.
