With the start of Season 2 of Marvel Rivals, Ultron is now the most anticipated character to be added in the future after the inclusion of Emma Frost. With the announced schedule of this Season from the developers, we have a confirmed release date for when the Avengers villain will take his place in the game's roster. However, some leaks have already hinted at what Ultron could play like soon.
Like the previous Season, Season 2 is expected to last for 3 months, with a major update at the halfway point. The developers have stated that a new character release strategy in Marvel Rivals will begin with Season 3, making Seasons shorter by a whole month. Although we can expect a new character per month when Season 3 drops, the current schedule follows what Season 1 established.

When Does Ultron Release In Marvel Rivals Season 2?
Wait Until Season 2 Is Halfway Done
Ultron is set to release during the Season 2.5 update, which will take place 1.5 months after Season 2 started. Since April 11 was the start date for Season 2, Ultron is likely to release on May 30, 2025. A character trailer will likely showcase the new character's abilities, role, Ultimate, and other qualities before his release during the week of the 2.5 update.
A Huge Chunk Of Overwatch Players Switched To Marvel Rivals, Report Says
According to a new report, almost half of Overwatch players have made the jump over to the hugely popular Marvel Rivals since its release in December.
With the release of Emma Frost in Marvel Rivals at the beginning of Season 2, this gives players enough time to adjust to a new character on the roster before Ultron's inclusion. As of this time of writing, no details about Ultron have been officially confirmed. The only details revealed so far have been what the character looks like and how he impacts the story of Season 2 with his invasion of Krakoa.
Ultron May Be Marvel Rival's 10th Strategist
Leaked Content Has Shown Ultron's Possible Role
Despite the lack of information surrounding Ultron, the abilities and role of the character have long been data mined and leaked since the game was released back in December 2024. According to posts from X "@MarvelRivalLeak," Ultron has been in the files of Marvel Rivals for quite some time, implying his release in the early Seasons even before his confirmation in the Hellfire Gala Season 2 trailer.
Through these same leaks, Ultron will likely be a Strategist character, using healing abilities to his allies. This would be the 10th character of this archetype in the game, with the last one being The Invisible Woman at the beginning of Season 1. This may seem like an odd choice, as the villainous Ultron rarely works with others, but when you consider how the character always manages an army of drones, it begins to make sense.
Several Strategist characters in Marvel Rivals have received nerfs going into Season 2, so it is unclear where Ultron will rank among them even from the known leaks about his abilities.
The reliability of this leak is strong, as this same leaker predicted most of the character skins in the Season 2 Battle alongside many other announcements. Emma Frost being a Vanguard was also predicted through the same data mine that included Ultron, lending strong evidence to his role as a Strategist.
Ultron's unique role will lend to the number of ive characters in the game, but according to leaks, he lends his own twist to the archetype. Despite knowing how Ultron plays, it is unknown how much health Ultron will have or the difficulty Ultron will be to play among the other Strategists in Season 2.
Ultron's Drones Could Be Healers And Fighters
Some Leaks Also Include Ultron's Key Abilities
The same set of leaks revealing Ultron as a Strategist also describe many of the character's abilities. From what we know, it seems likely that Ultron's drones can be summoned to attack enemies and aid allies during a match. Similar to The Invisible Woman in Marvel Rivals, Ultron's primary attack seems to damage and heal simultaneously, making the character act as a healer with a higher DPS focus.

Why Emma Frost And Ultron Are The Perfect New Characters For Marvel Rivals
Emma Frost and Ultron have been announced by NetEase to Marvel Rivals for Season 2, and they are the perfect additions to the cast.
The table below outlines all the leaked abilities of Ultron, including his Ultimate:
Ability |
Ability Type |
Description |
---|---|---|
Encephalo-Ray |
Primary Attack |
Unleash a burning energy beam. |
Imperative: Patch |
Basic Ability |
Command a giant drone to follow an ally, constantly healing allies in its radius, with additional healing for the designated ally. |
Imperative: Firewall |
Alternate Attack |
Summon drones to grant Bonus Health to allies within range, centered on himself and the ally marked with Imperative: Patch. |
Dynamic Flight |
Basic Ability |
Fly quickly in the direction of movement and then enter a free-flight mode. |
Rage of Ultron |
Ultimate |
Summon Ultron Drones to fire Encephalo-Rays, damaging enemies or healing allies. |
Algorithm Correction |
ive |
Hold the "Jump" input (SPACE, A, X) to fall slowly, similar to Magneto or Hela. |
The drones are rumored to be at the core of Ultron's gameplay, as he summons them to protect himself or the allies on his team. The unique aspect of Ultron's skills seems to be how they have natural synergy with each other. The strongest example of this is how Imperative: Firewall becomes stronger if you have an ally being protected already through Imperative: Patch.
As of this time of writing, the Victory and Defeat animations for the Krakoa: Hellfire Gala map show Ultron evolving into a new, sleek form. It is unclear if this new transformation will impact Ultron's gameplay or appearance when using certain abilities.
The free flight of Ultron will seemingly give him more mobility than most Strategists, even those with quick movements like Rocket Racoon in Marvel Rivals. With the addition of his drones, Ultron may be a Strategist who plays closer to his team rather than in the backline. However, like all Strategists, Ultron is unlikely to have a ton of health to balance his stronger restorative skills.
All of this speculation could result in nothing if Ultron went through any changes before his release in Season 2.5. Despite heavy alterations to the character being possible in Marvel Rivals, leaks strongly indicate that Ultron might be a force to be reckoned with as a powerful addition to any team comp.
