Season 1 of Marvel Rivals is introducing four new playable heroes in The Fantastic Four. Mr. Fantastic and Sue Storm were released alongside the season's launch, while Johnny Storm and The Thing will go live at the halfway mark of the season. This season is the only one expected to have four heroes, as the following seasons will be dropped down to two. Regardless, the studio has said its goal is to release a new hero every month and a half to keep the game fresh.

17 The Trapster Changes The Battlefield

Possible Roles: Duelist, Strategist

One of the more obscure and random characters leaked for Rivals is Paste-Pot Pete, better known as the Trapster. He is a relatively simple character who uses his smarts and suit to create traps with adhesives. In this regard, he would likely fit a Duelist or Strategist role. Strategist may be a slightly better fit, with all the creativity adhesive abilities could have, but finding a way for him to heal would be the hard part.

16 Jia Jing The Aerial Menace

Possible Roles: Vanguard, Duelist

Another more obscure but powerful character who has been leaked is the mutant Jia Jing. Jia can fly but also has skin made of rock that increases her attack and defense. Given these strengths, Jia would fit best as a Vanguard. The wings would help fill out her hitbox more, and the rest of her kit could blend smoothly into the tank role. The ability to fly would also be a fun twist to the role, as currently, only Strange can fly for brief periods.

15 A Second Teleporter In Locus

Possible Roles: Duelist, Strategist

Locus, another mutant, is similar to one Rivals already has in Magik, but with some slight differences. Her powers are based purely around teleportation, whereas Magik's are more demonic in origin. This makes it hard to pin down what role Locus would have, but she will likely fall into the Duelist or Strategist role. Strategist may be the more interesting fit, as the game doesn't have many characters that help others reposition.

14 Which Version Of The Hood Will We Get

Possible Roles: Duelist

The Hood went from a crime lord to a magic to one of the newest Ghost Riders, which makes him an interesting potential addition. Even in his base form, a magical gun-wielding crime lord makes for a fun Duelist.

However, there is also a chance Rivals doubles up and uses the Ghost Rider version of the Hood to add both at once. Though other versions of Ghost Rider are usually used, this would be a break from the norm that could go extremely well.

13 Hit-Monkey Creates Chaos

Possible Roles: Duelist

One of Marvel's newer vigilantes, Hit-Monkey, would be a fun, and comical, addition to Rivals. This monkey learned assassin skills and has become one of the more dangerous characters in the franchise. As a Duelist, which is his likely role, he could fill another role as a burst assassin, but with more range than most. This range factor, and his mobility, would also help him survive in Rivals' often chaotic fights without dedicated positions.

12 Angela Adds Another Asgardian God

Possible Roles: Vanguard, Duelist

Angela, the lost sister of Thor and Loki, is an Angel/God mix that could be a powerful hero for the roster. Her powers are more straightforward than her brothers', having Superhuman strength, speed, durability, and healing.

Angela is also capable of flying and utilizing her Angelic powers. This Asgardian would fit best as a Vanguard or Duelist, but since she would likely have one of the simpler kits in the game, it is hard to tell exactly which is best for her until official information is known.

11 Valkyrie Looks To Lead The Charge

Possible Roles: Duelist

Valkyrie is another Asgardian warrior but not at the same level as Thor or Loki. Her powers are minimal, just being as strong as any other Asgardian, but it is her fighting skill that makes her formidable.

Given her proficiency with multiple weapons, she could play similarly to The Punisher, switching between weapons for different effects and ranges. She could fill the role as a more brawl-focused Vanguard, but would likely fit better as a pure Duelist with a combo-based skill ceiling.

10 Colossus Hardens The Frontline

Possible Roles: Vanguard

Older brother to Magik, Colossus is one of the more recognizable X-Men and would surely be a fun addition to the Vanguard role. His powers allow him to turn his body into hardened steel, granting him superhuman strength and durability. This makes him a threatening melee combatant that could go up against Hulk or Venom. Building a whole kit around these powers will be tricky, but it could end up with a fun displacer tank that would likely have a team-up with his sister or other mutants.

9 Professor X Unites His Team

Possible Roles: Duelist, Strategist

What started as a hopeful wish for many has almost become reality with the leak that Professor X may also Rivals at some point. His role is trickier given the numerous versions of him that exist, but Strategist is the most likely. However, a kit for this powerful mutant is much more obvious, using his telepathic powers to buff his team and debuff the enemy. Unfortunately, until more is known about what role Charles will play, much of his gameplay is just speculation.

8 Jean Grey Ignites Marvel Rivals

Possible Roles: Vanguard, Duelist

Arguably one of the strongest mutants to exist, Jean Grey could be one of the most anticipated leaks. Her long list of telepathic abilities makes her a strong hero, and also flexible to fill any role. However, the easiest role to see her in is Duelist, using her various powers to deal massive burst damage. Another aspect of her that could be seen is fitting a Hybrid role similar to Marvel Rivals' Mr. Fantastic, who isn't a pure DPS unit.
