Wolverine can be a very powerful character in the Marvel Rivals Wolverine is not as invincible as his counterpart from Marvel Comics or the X-Men movies.
That said, once you get the hang of using Wolverine responsibly, he can be one of the best parts of a Marvel Rivals team. Wolverine has a mixture of ive and active abilities, and understanding how they all work is essential for playing the character correctly. Many of Wolverine’s active abilities allow him to move quickly across the map. His ive abilities, on the other hand, allow him to both take and deal more damage.

Savage Claw
Savage Claw is Wolverine’s basic attack. It is a close-range melee attack that allows Wolverine to slash enemies with his Adamantium claws quickly. This basic attack can be upgraded to Berserk Claws by several of Wolverine’s other abilities.
Feral Leap
Feral Leap is Wolverine’s Left-Shift/L1 ability which allows him to leap a far distance. If Wolverine comes in with an enemy, he will pull the enemy with him and slam them into the ground. For a brief time after activating Feral Leap, Wolverine’s Savage Claw attacks are upgraded to Beserk Claws.
Vicious Rampage
Right-Clicking/L2 with Wolverine activates his Vicious Rampage ability. This is a short charge forward that ends with a claw attack. Wolverine doesn’t need to be within a certain range of an enemy to perform this attack, so it can also be used just to move around more quickly.
Undying Animal
Undying Animal is Wolverine’s E/R1 ability, which emulates his superhuman durability. While active, Wolverine takes reduced damage. The effects of this ability last for five seconds.
Regenerative Healing Factor
Like Wolverine of the comics, Marvel Rivals Wolverine also has a healing factor. This ive ability kicks in when Wolverine’s health reaches zero. Wolverine is granted a small portion of temporary HP. If Wolverine survives for a short time, the temporary HP turns into permanent health, and the Regenerative Healing Factor goes back on cooldown.
Berserker Rage
As Wolverine hits enemies with basic attacks, he will build up Berserker Rage. Wolverine’s rage can be tracked by the meter that surrounds his targeting reticle. Once his rage reaches 100%, his basic attacks temporarily become Berserk Claws, dealing more damage.

Wolverine’s ultimate ability The Last Stand — named after one of the worst X-Men movies — can be activated by pressing Q/both thumbsticks once his meter has charged up. When activated, Wolverine launches all nearby enemies into the air and is then given a few seconds to pick a landing spot. Any enemies along Wolverine’s path to the chosen landing spot are dragged with him and take damage on impact. This attack does extra damage based on the amount of Berserker Rage Wolverine has stored up.
Wolverine’s Ultimate is very effective for a few reasons. First, it is a great way to disrupt enemies by sending them flying. This can give Wolverine’s team a brief moment of reprieve to heal and collect themselves. Wolverine can also pull enemies off point with this ability, helping his team capture objectives.
The Last Stand can also be a good way to take out multiple enemy heroes at once. Enemies that are already low on health when they get hit will likely die on impact. Enemies also land grouped up, so it's easy for Wolverine to damage several of them at once after the ability has finished. Enemy players will likely be somewhat disoriented by the attack, allowing Wolverine to quickly clean up any enemies low on health while they regain their composure.

Marvel Rivals includes some built-in team-up moves that can give players an indication of who they should play together. For Wolverine, this team-up move is Fastball Special, which allows the Hulk to pick up and throw Wolverine. Aside from being a fun reference to the move from the comics, Fastball Special is a good way to give Wolverine even more mobility than he already has.
Jeff the Land Shark is another good pick on a team with Wolverine. Jeff has the ability to leave little healing bubbles around the battlefield. These can be very helpful for a Wolverine player who may not always be fighting directly with the rest of their team. Knowing that there is available health somewhere gives Wolverine a safe place to run back to after diving into the enemy team. It's also just nice to see Marvel Rivals embracing strange characters like Jeff or Squirrel Girl.
Rocket Raccoon is one of the better Strategists in Marvel Rivals and works well with Wolverine. Getting armor from Rocket can make up for the fact that Wolverine might miss out on some healing when he dives into the enemy team. Additionally, Rocket can revive Wolverine, making this already durable champion stick around even longer.

Wolverine Players Need To Understand When To Go In And When To Fall Back
Wolverine’s mobility on the battlefield makes him a huge asset. Moves like Vicious Rampage allow players to dive past front-line heroes and target weaker heroes. This can help Wolverine players dismantle a team by getting some quick eliminations. Wolverine can also charge into a team and use a well-aimed Feral Leap to pull one of the enemy heroes away from their team and back towards his own. While these moves can be very effective, they can also be risky.
It’s easy to get kill-happy with Wolverine, especially after a few successful times charging into a team and taking out key players. However, Wolverine players must exercise restraint. While you can easily take out an enemy hero one-on-one in a quick burst, you can just as easily be taken out right after if they aren’t careful. Players will naturally get away from their team from time to time, but it’s important that you also make sure they have an escape route to get back to their team.

One way to stay mobile and get out of danger is to use Vicious Rampage to move around more quickly. It has a relatively short cooldown, so it can be a reliable way to get out of danger. If worse comes to worst, you can also use a Feral Leap to get back to your team.
Even when using Feral Leap for mobility, you should try to snag an enemy hero while doing so to avoid it being a big waste.
You should also keep an eye on your Regenerative Healing Factor cooldown. If you're expecting the extra bit of health to stay alive, you may die more quickly than you expect if the ability isn’t ready. Getting assists helps speed up the cooldown on Wolverine’s healing factor, so getting some enemies low and leaving them for teammates to clean up could be one way to live longer. This can also be a good habit to curb a natural enthusiasm for chasing eliminations instead of playing strategically.
Wolverine is one of the most fun champions to play in Marvel Rivals if done correctly. However, he also runs the risk of being very frustrating for both players and their teammates if played too recklessly. If you don’t overextend and don’t chase too much, however, Wolverine will likely end up with a solid KDA and be a major asset to their team.
