The DC's version of Spider-Man was ing the team. But the official preview suggests the joke may have ended up being a little too close to Marvel's Spider-Man for the publisher to allow...

Having already confirmed that previous nods to the Marvel Universe were a treat. But it seems that bringing a familiar-looking Spider hero into Young Justice may not have gone as smoothly as it first seemed.

The fun began when Miguel Montez and Summer Pickens crashed the party by slamming into the young heroes unexpectedly. Known to the world as the stars of DC's Dial H for Hero. They may not possess the same alien genetics, or superpowers as the other Young Justice heroes, but they do have a magical dial (in the form of a rotary telephone). And when that phone is dialed to call for a hero, they are transformed into one, with a completely random power and superhero identity. Or in the case of the previous issue, they're transformed into DC's version of Spider-Man.

In a blue suit with red webbing and detailing, the reference was unmistakable (and just as obvious as Marvel's knockoff Justice League, the Squadron Supreme). But now that the final page is included in DC's official preview of the new issue... things have changed. Take a look:

Rather than the same blue and red suit, Miguel's spider person has shifted color to yellow. Since he hasn't actually appeared in another just yet, the above image is the only one DC would need to adjust -- assuming the similarities were too strong. But we won't know for sure until the full issue arrives. In the meantime, readers can find the full credits and plot synopsis for the issue below:

  • Now that Young Justice has figured out who the bad guys are, it's time to bring the fight to S.T.A.R. Labs' front door! But the combined forces of Dial H for Hero, the Wonder Twins, Naomi, and the entire Young Justice roster may not be enough to defeat these evil scientists. It's time to call in some super-powered backup...the new Young Justice! Plus, how will Superman revealing his secret identity affect Conner Kent?

Young Justice #14 will be available at your local comic book shop on March 11th, 2020.
