The Bear star Ayo Edebiri is set to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Thunderbolts movie. Phase Five is about to start next month with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will take the Multiverse Saga to the next level. Later on within Phase Five, the Thunderbolts will the MCU. After several years of speculation, Thunderbolts was properly greenlit in 2022 by Marvel Studios. It will be the penultimate film of Phase Five and will be one of the more unique MCU installments in quite some time. Filming is expected to start later this year in order to make its 2024 release date.
While the project is still in pre-production, Thunderbolts has added its latest cast member. Deadline reports that The Bear's Ayo Edebiri is ing the MCU as part of the massive ensemble film. The trade revealed that her role is being kept under wraps for the time being. At the time of this story's publication, Disney and Marvel Studios have yet to comment on Edebiri's casting. Edebiri's representatives have also not made any statements on the casting announcement.
Everything We Know About Thunderbolts So Far
Similar to most MCU projects, Marvel Studios is keeping a lot of details about Thunderbolts quiet for now. More will likely be revealed once principal photography is underway, as set photos and videos are bound to emerge throughout filming. Currently, Thunderbolts is looking to start filming in June, with director Jake Schreier helming the project. Black Widow and Thor: Ragnarok scribe Eric Pearson is penning the script, making it his third MCU film.
At D23 2022, Marvel Studios officially unveiled the line-up for Thunderbolts with several familiar MCU faces. Black Widow's Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Olga Kurylenko will be reprising their roles of Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, and Taskmaster. Sebastian Stan is also boarding the project as Bucky Barnes, following his adventures in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Hannah John-Kamen will be back in the MCU as Ghost after debuting in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Julia Louis-Dreyfus will also have a central role as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, along with Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent.
Who Could Ayo Edebiri Be Playing In Thunderbolts
The bigger question right now is who Edebiri could potentially be playing in Thunderbolts. With no clues given at the time, she could be playing anyone from the Marvel Comics world or even an original character for the MCU. It's likely she is portraying someone that already exists in the lore, and it could be possible that they are adding another Thunderbolts member. Since the MCU film isn't pulling from one particular line-up, Thunderbolts may have Edebiri play a member from a particular comics run. Some of the famous Edebiri may be playing is Moonstone or Songbird, who was part of the first and second iterations. Hopefully, it will become clear soon what Marvel character Edebiri is playing in Thunderbolts.
