The infamous Venom symbiote has attached to countless hosts over it's long life, but it is most known for its long-running connection to the Brock family. With the reveal that Venom will be ing with a fresh host in All-New Venom, Marvel is making it clear that the symbiote has abandoned Eddie and Dylan for one simple reason: He just loves them way too much!

While Eddie and Venom have a violent and storied partnership, the symbiote's relationship with the young Dylan Brock is even more complex, because Dylan is technically the genetic child of Venom.

Venom War #5 venom leaving dylan

Jordan D. White, Marvel's top Venom editor, recently confirmed to AIPT that the reason Venom left the Brocks is because it cares too much about them, and wants to save them from its "curse," protecting them from its self-perceived corruptive power.

How does the symbiote’s decision to abandon the Brock family and seek a new host impact its identity and role within the Marvel Universe?

Jordan: At the end of VENOM WAR, I think the symbiote is still not sure that the time he’s spent with the Brocks has actually been GOOD for them. It cares deeply about Eddie and has almost got him killed numerous times—most recently at the end of Venom War itself. The same is true for Dylan… but Venom considers Dylan their child. Dylan is Eddie and Anne’s son, but he’s also the symbiote’s son. So they absolutely cannot keep putting him in danger constantly.

Venom Has Officially Left The Brock Family...

...Because he loves Eddie and Dylan too much

The Venom symbiote has been attached to Dylan, Eddie's son, since Eddie had to leave Earth on a King in Black mission. While Venom was able to keep Dylan safe for a while, eventually Carnage caught up to them and murdered the young hero, but not before revealing all of Venom and Eddie's past villainy to Dylan. Even though Dylan was resurrected due to his symbiote genetics, Venom left the boy, thinking himself unworthy and unsafe. When the Venom War kicked off, Venom attached himself to Spider-Man, who helped him realize all the good he had done, leading Venom to form a symbiosis with both Eddie and Dylan once again.

I think the symbiote is very happy to keep him in that safe place while it goes off with its new host to make the world a better place.

However, this connection was short lived, as Eddie made the choice to give Venom entirely to Dylan, who he had learned to trust and also wanted to protect. After Dylan and Venom defeated the monstrous Zombiotes and took down Meridius, the mad future version of Eddie, Venom mysteriously left Dylan once again. In AIPTs interview with Jordan D. White, the editor confirms that Venom simply could not handle the thought of harming the Brocks again. Eddie was his closest partner for years - with Venom stating he was his "most beloved host" - while Dylan is his actual "biological" child, meaning Venom will do anything to protect them, even if that means leaving forever...
