The Infinity Stones are the most coveted artifacts in the Doctor Doom sought to take them. An entity known only as “Quinn” is the key to the Infinity Stones, and his knowledge is kept safe even by those who seek to take power.

In Doctor Doom and the Masters of Evil #3 – from writer Paul Tobin, artists Patrick Scherberger, and Esdras Cristobal, and letterer Dave Sharpe – Doctor Doom and his group of masterminds are on the hunt for Quinn, who knows the paths the Infinity Stones traveled. Even the paths of the stones produce magic so powerful that he’s in a self-imposed prison, aided by the Watchers.

The Watchers look over Quinn's prison as Baron Zemo and Princess Python approach.

Quinn doesn't have the current location of the stones but tracks where they've been, making him one of the most important beings alive. He is committed to guarding his knowledge, but villains like Galactus and Doom will always want it for themselves.

The Infinity Stones' One Weakness Had To Be Invented For The MCU

While the Infinity Stones were destroyed by Thanos in the MCU, a much more dramatic technique was needed to shatter them in the comic source material.

Marvel's Most Powerful Character Is No One Readers Would Expect

Dormammu Thanos and Galactus respond to Quinn's prison being breached.

Knowledge of Quinn's existence, much less how to find him, seems limited to a select few beings, including the Watchers who stand guard over his prison. Even Doom and his crew do not have an exact location for him and instead have to rely on tracking the response of his guards. The mystery is part of what protects him, but it also means very little is known about the entity himself. Baron Zemo mentions that he is "older than time" – so he may have existed when the stones first appeared, granting him such precious information.

Doctor Doom and the Masters of Evil marks Quinn's only appearance, so his exact origins and past are unknown. He is clearly aware of the stones' potential for destruction and is noble enough to choose imprisonment instead of taking that for himself or leaving it vulnerable to others. Ultra-powerful beings like Thanos, Dormammu, and Blastaar covet Quinn's knowledge so much that they end up acting as protectors of it in their own way, not making a move to take it or allowing others to do so. Whoever Quinn is, he acts as a guardian of the universe.

The Marvel Universe Is Still Vulnerable To Abuse Of The Infinity Stones

Doctor Doom and the Masters of Evil free Quinn in order to track the Infinity Stones' path.

Unfortunately, his ultimate fate is as mysterious as his origins. Doom does what Thanos and the others cannot and extracts the information he wants from him, but what happens afterward isn't shown or mentioned. It's possible that he had been returned to his prison and the stalemate resumed, with no one else daring what Victor attempted. There is still magic in the remaining ley lines for others to take, and Quinn could be of use - assuming he still lives. Regardless, Doctor Doom successfully stole knowledge of the Infinity Stones from one of the most important figures in the Marvel Universe.
