To celebrate Pride Month, Marvel's Avengers War for Wakanda DLC brought players to the advanced East African country for an epic adventure, and a new short story shines a spotlight on two of Wakanda's all-female Dora Milaje group.

The War for Wakanda expansion, which launched in August 2021, remains the largest piece of Marvel's Avengers post-launch content to date. The add-on introduced Black Panther as a new playable character, with the Wakandan king possessing his own suite of agile combat moves and vibranium abilities. War for Wakanda also added an extensive single-player storyline to the game that sees Black Panther and the Avengers team up to protect Wakanda from the villainous Ulysses Klaue. The Marvel's Avengers version of Wakanda is a lush and engaging location to explore, with its capital city Birnin Zana serving as a hub where players can interact with Wakandan characters.

In honor of Pride Month, Marvel's Avengers has detailed an LGBTQ+ romance between two Dora Milaje warriors in a short story titled "A Sunset with You." The touching narrative sees Ayo, a Dora Milaje trainee, ask for Ms. Marvel's help in courting her captain Aneka. The story explores the Marvel's Avengers version of Wakanda in detail, as Ayo searches for the perfect flower to present to Aneka. Three variant covers also help bring Pride, and the LGBTQ+ romance between the Dora Milaje warriors, to life. The story even includes a code to unlock colorful in-game Pride outfits for Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

While "A Sunset with You" celebrates Pride Month, recent Marvel's Avengers Captain Marvel DLC leaks suggest that the game will soon add another female hero to its lineup of comic icons. Crystal Dynamics recently added Jane Foster Thor to the game, but the new hero has been criticized for being extremely similar to the original God of Thunder. Now rumors suggest that Captain Marvel will be added to Marvel's Avengers in 2023, with additional leaks suggesting that She-Hulk, War Machine and the Winter Soldier will  her too.

"A Sunset with You" gives Marvel's Avengers fans greater insight into the world of Wakanda through the lens of a touching LGBTQ+ love story. The relationship between Ayo and Aneka is truly heartwarming, and Ms. Marvel's role in the story perfectly fits her character. The Pride Month celebration also comes along with colorful new costumes, allowing Marvel's Avengers fans to show their LGBTQ+ pride in-game.
