After a prolonged waiting period, the first gameplay for Marvel's Avengers as he'll be exclusive to PlayStation platforms. With such specificity, many have wondered how the character will be merged into the main story of the game.
As well as curiosity over what Spider-Man's platform exclusivity means for players, fans have also speculated on how the world of Marvel's Avengers might facilitate Spidey's powers. The character largely needs environments designed specifically for his powerset, which may be difficult for Marvel's Avengers. Insomniac Games defined Spider-Man in gaming with Marvel's Spider-Man in 2018 thanks to its slick swinging and engaging combat, giving Marvel's Avengers players another reason to ponder on the character's implementation in the live-service Crystal Dynamics release. Nonetheless, the developer still wanted to include its own interpretation of Spider-Man in Marvel's Avengers, and after months of teases, the studio has finally showcased the character in action.
In an exclusive IGN preview, fans have gotten their first look at Spider-Man in Marvel's Avengers. The video confirms that Spider-Man's webs act similarly to many of the pre-Insomniac games where they don't need any surfaces to attach to. Some fans don't enjoy this method of swinging because it defeats the purpose of his webs and one of his weaknesses, but it would be difficult for Marvel's Avengers' version of Spider-Man to be fun or useful without making this compromise.

Spider-Man also appears to be quite fluid and agile in combat, which should gel nicely with the other Marvel's Avengers heroes. IGN compares the character's combat skills to Black Panther, yet another character that ed Marvel's Avengers earlier this year. The outlet noted it was disappointed in the lack of content surrounding the arrival of Spider-Man as there are no new story missions with this update, which isn't terribly surprising. Given Crystal Dynamics is building out an evolving story, it can't reasonably tell that story to only some of the players who own the game on a specific platform.
Despite the lack of missions in Marvel's Avengers' Spider-Man DLC, the new content will have plenty of suits for players to unlock. It's likely more will be added over time, but there's around 40 in the November update. Some of these are just different colored suits while others are more intricate and iconic, such as the Noir costume. As of right now, it doesn't seem like there are any plans to bring Marvel's Avengers' Spider-Man over to other platforms. It's likely the character will remain exclusive to PlayStation, just like the Insomniac iteration of Spider-Man.
Marvel's Avengers will add Spider-Man on November 30 for PlayStation players.
