Mass Effect’s Jennifer Hale wants to return for the next installment of Bioware's beloved Sci-Fi RPG franchise, and she wants more romance options with her fellow squates. A veteran voice actress in the realm of video games and animation, Hale moved players with her portrayal of the female Commander Shepard in the first three Mass Effect games, with many fans preferring her take to Mark Meer’s male version.
Shepard’s journey ended with the longtime friend and squate Liara T'Soni.
Jennifer Hale herself at least wants to return as Shepard in the next Mass Effect, saying as much in a sitdown with a planned-but-ultimately cut one for Jack. “I just want to jump back into this story in any capacity. I love it so much, and I also want to be like Mark Meer (who voices the male Commander Shepard) where I can be this weird alien that nobody knows it's me.”
Players have been diving into the Mass Effect universe all over again thanks to the release of the Legendary Edition in May. Although some fans have taken to people took issue with in the old version like the Mako’s rough controls or Tali’s unmasked face.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition has served as a nice appetizer for what Bioware has in store for their next game, and the idea of Shepard returning in some capacity remains an enticing prospect for many fans. It might be a long shot given the events of Mass Effect 3, but hearing the voice of the Commander herself lobby for it – as well as bringing up her ideas for further exploring her relationships with her squates – might just help make it a reality in the next Mass Effect. In the meantime, fans can play Mass Effect Legendary Edition on any current console, as well as hear Jennifer Hale’s voice as the female Lombax Rivet in the Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
